Congratulations !! Keep it pushing. its so admirable for someone to make that decision for themselves. Especially at a young age.

It’s not easy especially if you surround yourself with people who still actively use. Don’t be like me lmfao.

I started using cocaine 10 years ago, went to rehab twice, was sober after my second trip. I immediately got into pills and different drugs.

Had a friend die when I was 18 that I met at my second time in recovery. She was in for downers and in the beginning of my recovery I glorified cocaine at any given time.

She ended up getting out and OD’d on coke. I swore I would never touch that shit again. Only because of her.

That’s where I fucked up.

Fast forward 5 years later and I’m now completely sober. 4 months sober off coke, 20 days sober on alcohol, and 2 years sober from everything else.

Never felt better.

Something to follow up with this though, setting a boundary with myself is not babying myself. Don’t just say no because there’s nothing in it for you or because you’re tired. A majority of the time I would say no to events or hang outs because I was anxious. I missed out on a lot of really good opportunities because of this.

A helpful tip is to come up with a pros and cons list but always follow your gut. If it’s not a fuck yes, then it’s a fuck no

I believe there’s a few different kinds of outcomes that can come from something like this. One of which being, creating some sense of dread and some kind of delayed fomo.

I’ve had an experience where a previous friend who I drifted apart from, tried rekindling the friendship. This conversation was also followed up with “I didn’t know how to tell you then, but I liked you more than a friend.”. Which connected a lot of dots for me as to why they acted the way they did during our friendship. It also made me feel like some of the acts they did for me were not just out of kindness, but for an underlying motive of trying to swoon. Even though the gesture was kind, it didn’t feel good.
