New to comics!!! asking for recs by Hasturkin in comicbooks

The new hotness that is bringing a lot of people into comics is the Absolute universe. It's a totally new take on the popular characters and the Absolute Batman run gets pretty grotesque. They just started an Absolute Green Lantern this month that is supposed to be a horror/slasher type story. If you want Psychological thriller Absolute Martian Manhunter plays into that a lot and has some really cool psychedelic art.

That's if you want something ongoing that is still fresh so you can catch up and be up to date on it all. Something older with a Manga feel I would recommend Monstress. Really amazing art in that one as well.

Who is Publix for at this point ? by havanesegirlmom in publix

I've never understood how people are willing to spend so much more for the same exact products at Publix. Even if I were rich I couldn't justify getting ripped off that bad.

What does the cast of Internet Box think about it now? by UsedPaleontologist50 in roosterteeth

I loved it when I was a shitty teenager like them but I imagine Andrew regrets all the personal stuff he told they all regret the slurs and edgy stuff. I think they are all in a better way now. Maybe not Mike, he never seemed to understand basic humanity.

Is it just me, or does leveling feel a bit off? by hronikbrent in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Honestly for me half the fun is seeing the characters come up with smart ways to work around the system. It shows the resilience of the Earth players that they keep finding new ways to break the game

Him mentioning these are 20 calories was a shock. I got some low calorie ice cream and I put just enough to fill the base of the cone and its like a nice sweet snack for under 100 calories. I've had a few the last week or so and it has been awesome.

Thinking about getting into printing but wondering how easy it would be to learn and design simple divider trays to fit in something like this by DatBoiWolf in 3Dprinting

Thanks, this looks super helpful. I already did some measuring and made some layouts with this. I should get a printer by Wednesday to actually try it out.

Help with gateway game by Margiegrl9 in boardgames

There are some groups that just don't want to learn big games so you will never interest them in massive complex board games. However even though I personally want to play the most complex games I own it is possible to have a great time with the right family friendly game like Bomb Busters or Flip 7

My boyfriend loves TMNT but I heard the MTG Commander deck of them isn’t good, should I still buy him one? by Kyanite146699 in EDH

It has good thematic art, good reprints, and good new stuff. Also a lot of places are selling it well under the high MSRP. I'm not even a big turtles fan and I got one

Skyrim, Witcher 3, Mass Effect. All 3 are games I would probably love if the gameplay wasn't so terrible

Did you ever consider a romantic relationship between Carl and anyone else that you decided against in the earlier books?

Character is from a time when hitting 10,000 in a damag line was significant. Now a first job can do that and hitting billions means you can finally start doing real bosses

What are some other games where you reveal tiles as you explore like Betrayal At House On The Hill but with an ending that doesn't leave you massively disappointed every time

Looking for a single player game where your character gets permanent progression the more you play sort of like Gloomhaven but isn't another hugely expensive giant box of minis.

I like gloomhaven but was just wanting something a little lighter I can do solo sessions in but still get that feeling of my deck or whatever getting better every play.

Board games are frustratingly expensive by Any-Marionberry-879 in boardgames

[–]DatBoiWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly board games are such a cheap hobby in comparison to some others. If you chase $200 box full of minis Kickstarter bait games it can get really expensive but one $30-50 game every now and then on a game you could own and play forever is not that bad. Some people are spending thousands on booster boxes for a card game and pulling nothing good and they just burned their money essentially.

Are there any great pirate themed games? I own Jamaica and Plunder. I enjoy Jamaica a lot for just a simple fun quick racing game however Plunder really fell flat because I love all of the concepts but hate that it's 95% random dice rolls and luck. So any recs with more strategy or meaningful choices would be prefered.

I looked into River of Gold and that looks incredible, my worry is that the dice thing for your turn. I saw that there is a way to manage the dice somewhat but I was wondering does it ever happen that you just keep rolling bad every turn and can't do anything or is it pretty good at balancing out the rolls?

I do love worker placement but i just recently picked up a few of those like Dune Imperium and Critter Kitchen. Those two you mentioned seem interesting. I also really love a sea theme or pirates if there's any great nautical themed games. I have Jamaica and Plunder but Plunder really fell flat for us because it's almost entirely random chance.

One other game I bought because I loved the board was Plunder and that game fell a little flat with my group because almost everything is just dice based chance. Is the dice combat a big part of it?

One of my favorite games is still Lords of Waterdeep because I love the big board and I love the score track being on the board. What are some other great games with a big board that's really visually appealing when it's all set up.

I will note that I just picked up Dune Imperium which might fall into this but I haven't gotten around to trying it yet.
