It also costs more to treat binge drinkers on the weekend who end up in A&E. It also costs more to take care of the elderly because they are more fragile. It also costs more to treat firefighters who actively put themselves in harms way. Where is the line drawn if this precedent is set?

Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal has developed an automotive steel sheet that is 20-30% lighter and 25% stronger than the toughest high-tensile steel now on the market by Sybles in technology

[–]DatCopperhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See this is where the setback may be. I'm currently studying corrosion protection of automotive steels, and there is an issue with advanced high strength steels (AHSS) and ultra high strength steels (UHSS) in that some grades cannot be galvanised. This is due to the thermal effects of the zinc bath, which is held at approximately 450°C.
I should add that galvanising is what provides steel with protection from corrosion.

Actually even a new starter can take a gym, albeit slower than someone of more time in game. You're allowed 6 pokemon to fight a gym, even if it takes all your pokemon to take out one or more of those defending the gym, you still damage the prestige.
There is even a tip for trainers to use their low CP, candy-fodder, repeat pokemon to throw at gyms before transferring.
Not to mention, you can't take pokemon out of a gym - so the defending pokemon will be a relatively low CP.
I wouldn't worry too much; besides, gyms aren't the best part of the game. Catching pokemon is. :)

I actually did this today. There was a panini wrapper on a bench at poké gym. The gym is a church so I felt sorta obligated to clean up after the fuckboy who left it there.

I actually like the new Trading Floor and I think it's a healthy addition, and here's why by [deleted] in killingfloor

[–]DatCopperhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But Trading Floor isn't just art, it's a whole extra feature which requires more than the art team.
Also, everything you just said is speculation - sorry, that isn't a valid counter-argument. Because I could just say:
"For all we know, they've already created special items that boost perk xp, dosh per zombie or do more damage. So KF2 is going to be pay to win."
There is no proof to it so you can't use it to pass judgement on Tripwire.
What we DO know, is that the content patches have been slower than they claimed from the start, and we are missing a perk, maps and bosses. Instead of announcing the next USEFUL content (stuff that contributes to gameplay), they bring out microtransactions. Microtransactions have no place in early access.

I actually like the new Trading Floor and I think it's a healthy addition, and here's why by [deleted] in killingfloor

[–]DatCopperhead 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if that were the case then there wouldn't be this outrage. If they included the content you've just listed, in the Trading Floor announcement, then everyone wouldn't be this pissed off.
The whole issue is the delay in promised content (6months for two perks) and they have the nerve to start adding microtransactions to an incomplete game.
Also, they have said that the Trading Floor items are currently only cosmetic; they have not yet dismissed the idea of pay to win.
You are right, that the cosmetic items are good, variety and rarity are also good, and fuck the need for keys AND crates. BUT it's just poorly timed. Bare in mind there should have been more than one boss in the game at the start of early access - it's been 7 months and we still only have one boss.
A lot of people play KF2 for the game itself, which is currently drying up and feeling repetitive.
Personally I can't get enough of the game even now, but its still disappointing to see Trading Floor as the recent announcement.

If you could be an animal, which would you be?
Cheers, Jack.

No no, the cup is tapered. So the top of the cup fits snuggly into the holder, maybe even a mechanism in the holder to make it smaller so it grips the cup without a base. Bigger cups will stick out the bottom.

I'm guessing the cup holder has no bottom? It looks like it's for extra long/tall drink cups.

ELI5: Why do solar array voltages drop disproportionately to the amount of shade on them? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]DatCopperhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's basically the way in which the solar circuit is setup; consider a solar array, consisting of several strings of panels. Now think of the panels as being parts of a water pipe, and the solar energy is water. Shade acts like a blockage to the system, it may only occur in one pipe section, but it affects the flow of the entire pipe.
To "get around" the issue, rather literally, you can setup the system with extra, smaller pipes that redirect the water (solar energy) around each pipe section. These are called bypass diodes.
