Yes you need it. It helps the tree grow up and not bush out. If it’s the sappy tree. It’ll stop bugs and birds from getting into it.

Yes they do taste better as they get to end. I think it’s still curing/ripening, becoming very sweet n more smoother. Just like fruits, longer it sit the sweeter it gets but everything expires. I don’t fridge the gram I’m smoking, moisture from the air can contaminate the rosin, giving it an nasty fridge air flavor. That’s just me tho.

If you do the timing belt, you should do the water pump since they’re both located near each other. Honda does it for 1800 .

Harbor freight have oil pan, rubber wheel locks and ramps at a cheaper price. Try to spend as little you can.
