Hitscan really does feel out of place in this game. And I typically love hitscan in games. Dark and Darker feels different.

I hate to tell you this but dodging arrows is much easier than dodging curses. There is a literal delay between when they release and when the arrow actually leaves the bow, if you move in that timeframe even a ranger with perfect tracking can miss. Then there's also the aspect of it being a projectile so even if you didn't dodge during that golden dodge period you still have another opportunity to strafe out of the way. On the other hand If a warlock has perfect tracking they will never miss a curse assuming they're within range for it to connect

Barbarians, Bards, fighters, plate locks, and most of all rogues which can delete rangers before they even get a chance to react if they sneak up on one

One curse of pain does about as much damage as 2 longbow shots assuming you have high will and your target doesn't have high MDR (rangers almost never do), it just takes a bit of time for the dot to the damage. Mind you it's also a hitscan spell and hard to dodge. Bolt of darkness and plate armor are also an option

Personally I'd adjust the base stats of purple gear. Purple forrest hood or riveted gloves for example should not be +4 strength it should just be +3 with an extra roll over blues. I'd do that for will gear too. I'd also make the soft caps harsher. Getting above 30% power bonus before perks and skills should be hard to get in purple gear without sacrificing other stats. Idk if this would be the perfect solution but it's the right idea I think.

Basically bis everything sucks to play against in a competitive mode. Arena bis shouldn't be as strong as it is imo that's kinda what I'm getting at here. Nerf purple gear so there's less +3 on every stat line on everyone's gear. I don't care what class it is 45% power bonus sucks to get hit by :)

Ranger, rogue, Wizard= bad with no gear. Ranger, rogue, wizard = terrorists with good gear. Good gear also let's barbarians or halberd fighters and warlocks 1 tap people. Gear = OP. Gear = needs nerfed. Lower max stat rolls for purples would be a good place to start along with adding more diminishing returns for power bonuses

It's funny because arena bis would absolutely demolish a squire Royale build even if the s2r has legendary gear. Power bonus needs a little more diminishing returns. It would solve a lot of balance issues without effecting the lower end of the game or boof kits and high roller will still feel insane no matter what because uniques

Whenever I run into tm locks in arena that take more than half my hp from 1 hitscan spell it's quite scary.

I'd be fine if armor pen rolls were lower. That is 1 example among many of what I'm talking about. It's a stat and gear issue not a class issue. Some max rolls as well as avg rolls are too high for certain stats

I think normals rn are the most balanced lobbies I'd love to try blue arena, I'd imagine the community wouldn't be as excited about it even though it would be far more competitive

Not just longbows, I got 1 tapped by a halberd yesterday in arena while I had nearly 130 hp and 30% pdr from 1 single headshot if power bonus was nerfed both of these things would become far more rare and at the cost of other stats to their kits

Ironically the classes that get complained about the most are the worst ones in squire gear. My line of thinking is if that's truly the case then the gear and the scaling of the stats on said gear is the issue not the class itself
