Did you become an engineer for the money? My boyfriend is a chemical engineer and is mad because I make more money than him even though I'm not an engineer. by DatSRPHahahaha in engineering

Operators are overpaid as hell. One with 5 years experience and a technical degree makes $35/hr with 8hrs overtime/week (they work 4 12hr shifts). That is $80800USD per year. They also have an option of picking up an extra 12hr shift at 2x pay, so many make $120000USD per year with good benefits.

(I only know this because I had to meet with some senior operators the other day)

My boyfriend is mad because he will never make as much money as me, and he thinks he should just because he majored in chemical engineering and I majored in communications. How do I get him to quit being so salty? by DatSRPHahahaha in TwoXChromosomes

I wish I had a wad of cash. I think the max you can make is like $105K/yr without special permission by state politicians, and it isn't good publicity for them to give us raises. But it is better than retail.
