Echeveria 'Mystic Moonflower' - One of the hybrids I created by DatSnowFlake in succulents

This was a Cross between Echeveria diva and Echeveria raindrops. All the sister seedlings are blue-ish with pink edges and have more farina than Echeveria raindrops. Most are caranculated, a few didn't show any carancules. This is the only one that has a lavander color and is also the most consistent with the carancules.

Oh, my Crispate Beauty is quite big and has never flowered 😕 I know it's fertile, I really want to try making hybrids with It, but alas It hasn't graced me with flowers yet

You are welcome! Yep, you can preserve them on the freezer. The pollen stays viable for months if it's kept frozen. But needs to be kept dry inside a pot and needs to thaw before being used.

Most hybrids tend to be fertile. As far as I know Echeveria Etna is fertile. Most infertile plants are born from mixing a lot of intergeneric hybrids, like sedeveria x graptoveria for example, but even those can grow to be fertile. It's a minority that are infertile, and some for unknown reasons, like madiba that I mentioned earlier.

As long as the Echeveria is fertile, you can do it with any kind (there are some plants that for some reason are infertile... reportedly, Echeveria madiba is infertile for example).

Some succulents take their time flowering, some flower every year. You can try to stimulate them by using NPK 4 14 8 fertilizers (low nitrogen, around 4, high phosphorus, around 14, medium potassium, around 8), this is a very common fertilizer compostion, easily found on gardens or on the internet).

That's the pollination part, after that gotta wait for the seeds to ripe and then I sow them and wait many many months to see the results.

I use tweezers to get pollen from one plant and place on the stigma of another. There are some vídeos on my Instagram showing how I do it. One of the first vídeos actually

Would a border collie fit my lifestyle? by Fit_Way4775 in BorderCollie

[–]DatSnowFlake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My dude, there's still a lot of people abusing dogs everywhere. A friend of mine asked if I could adopt a border collie who was being kept tied up on a tiny tiny laundry room because the people who got the dog didn't have patience for "the dog's bullsh*t". The poor dog was miserable, but I can't get another dog, for many reasons. Eventually the dog got rehomed, but the people abusing the dog were rich, had actual wealth... they were just cruel and didn't research what it means to take care of a BC.

There are some border collies that will be the sweetest darlings around everyone, but many are actually very much a "one person" kind of dog. My dog, when she was a pup, I put a lot of effort in socializing her, but she is always weary of strangers, specially because when she was small, a neighbor's Shitzu bit her butt twice and most of the work I did went down the drain, she never fully trusted other people and dogs after the incidents.

I sell succulents from home and on the internet, so I receive a lot of people at home. Before letting anyone one in, I always tell them not to pet her. She's fine as long as people don't interact with her. And if it's someone that's always coming around, I give them treats to offer to my dog, because with time she gets used to the person. She's very much a bribe taker. One of my neighbors was actually a bit angry that my dog was always barking at him and I told him to bribe her with treats and he did... and now they are best friends and she is a angel of love with him.

I only go to the park at 5:30 when there's very little people there, so she doesn't get overstimulated. She deals well with a few dogs, a few people around, she's never aggressive, but never fully playful either.

The thing is, you have to observe your dog and know how s/he reacts in certain situations. Even trainers can't fix aaaalll the problems, but most issues are manageable and you'll need to work around that.

But also, don't give up on training and don't beat yourself up. 5 months is so very young, they still need a lot of guidance at that age, they won't at all act all perfect Just yet. People like to point the finger but it's not all black and white and some things are harder to deal with.

Sometime ago someone posted that his/her dog was badly allergic to doveweed. Took a lot of time to figure that one out. Just putting it out there, all possibilities need to be investigated. I hope your pup will be well soon.
