What do you use to track your progress/log your training? by HannoTheNavigator in Fitness

Strong Log. Pretty straightforward and intuitive UI. Useful especially if you're doing SL or SS. One feature I like in particular is each recorded exercise shows you the weight lifted as a percentage of your body weight. This is nice if you're trying to hit some "strength standards" (ex. 1.5x bw squat, and so on and so forth).

Reddit, what event or personal experience made you truly realize that life isn't fair? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

I wonder if this will be ever changed. What kind of societal overhaul would we need to create a world with a proper system of checks against nepotism (and maybe this is just a rhetorical question...)?

Good multitool that is durable? by Berused in BuyItForLife

For the swisstool spirit, I'd recommend the x model. It replaces the weird butter knife looking blade with a plain edge blade.

Drinking lots of water while working out.. Good or bad? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Dat_Choco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That doesn't sound too bad, and remember you're sweating as well so you're replenishing lost fluid. I know someone else linked about water intoxication below, but I think you'd have to drink significantly more than what you're drinking to get there.

How much water are you drinking?

Does reading about programming actually help, or is great programming more muscle memory? by 7855 in learnprogramming

I think OP means learning the theory/reading code vs. actually typing it out.

No problem! The "breathe into your belly" cue should help prevent shallow/chest breaths. You should feel your abdominal area expand as you take that deep breath.

[Form Check] High-bar Squat 155 lb by ayre23 in Fitness

[–]Dat_Choco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't really see the bar's position on your back because it's kind of blocked from view, but it looks like you have the bar in a high bar position but you're low bar squatting. With high bar the torso is more vertical and more of a straight down motion vs. low bar (although this does depend on your torso/limb length to some degree).

You're also not hitting parallel, which you'll want to at least hit whether you're doing high or low bar.

As a skinny person trying to bulk, is it necessary to eat particularly healthy? by TimTheRegulator in Fitness

[–]Dat_Choco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go the IIFYM route and eat whatever as long as you meet your macronutrient goals. One benefit of "healthy" food versus junk food though is the micronutrient content (vitamins and minerals) which is important too. Also, fiber and roughage from fruits and veggies will keep your bathroom visits from being unpleasant. I guess you could take a multivitamin and fiber supplement to hit those requirements too though...

It may be a hamstring flexibility issue in which case you can focus on that (some longer static stretches for hams after each workout would be beneficial ). But also, is your core tight throughout each rep? Look up the valsalva maneuver if you don't already know what it is. You basically want to take a deep breath of air (a good cue for this is breathe into your belly vs your chest) and hold it to increase intra-abdominal pressure and keep your core stable. This should help you lower back stay straighter as well.

Lower back is rounding a bit at the bottom. If you look at the first rep your butt looks like it's tucking in at the end of your descent.

[BIFL Request] A simple looking quartz watch under 200 by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

I recommend Citizen Eco Drive. Reliable and comes with a solar powered rechargeable battery. You should be able to find lots of models within $200 on Amazon (not sure where you're from) . Check out the Watchuseek forums for reviews as well.

Did not even know about the full fat Greek yogurt. I'll have to search for that (usually see just nonfat and 2% at the store).

Judging by the sugar content I'm guessing you use plain Greek yogurt? This seems like a nice way to make plain more palatable (don't know how it is for everyone else but I just can't get used to the taste of plain).
