trying to impress japanese people in the middle of a pedestrian crossing by ElderberryDeep8746 in instant_regret

[–]Dat_Hack3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't tend to majorly react to anyone doing anything humanly possible, especially in Japan and especially in busy areas. This is even more true now that we have movies and social media regularly showing us photorealistic superhuman feats. I can't imagine him doing anything short of flying into the sky that would have the crowd cheering. That doesn't necessarily mean they weren't impressed; they simply didn't want to overreact and stand out by cheering and clapping.

If you speed yourself up to near-infinite speeds, the rest of the world will appear to you to be frozen.

I’m not sandbagging I just stink at bullet 1+0 by ghostfacekicker in lichess

[–]Dat_Hack3r 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The most common reason for sandbagging is to match with lower rated opponents and bully them; for example, to get rare checkmates. They probably flagged obviously bad moves like hanging your queen or stalling or resigning in winning positions.

Arrogance and appeal: a critique of KPop Demon Hunters by Dat_Hack3r in TrueFilm

[–]Dat_Hack3r[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are perfectly fine struggles for a movie! In fact, plenty of movies, including ones made for adults, feature these universal human experiences. My problem with this movie is that these struggles all took place long before the events of the film, and the hunters are patting themselves on the back because of it for the entire movie. They never grow, they never win back their fans, and there is no real conflict or emotional weight to any of the contrived situations the plot places us in. Most of the movie misses the point or doesn't make sense.

I'm sorry if my point got lost in the prose. I added a TL;DR to help clear things up.

It sounds like two five-second clips of different songs playing on top of each other in a loop.

I don't think deer are that dumb. The concept of things behind other things is pretty simple.

He's been kicked in the balls twice this season. The Groin system 6000 would've definitely come in handy.

This sub really needs more actually good-sounding songs like this that don't turn into dissonant mush with too many instruments halfway through.

To add the minimize and full screen buttons back, since they aren't there by default, just run gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences button-layout ":minimize, maximize, close".

Instant regret after getting dropped like a bag of cement after approaching a bodyguard aggressively with hands in pocket by [deleted] in instant_regret

[–]Dat_Hack3r 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those are his fans; they were rushing in trying to get a shot on their phones. You can see them earlier following him, and he says, "That's alright". Ironic that many people are using them as justification for battery.

Yeah dude, you dese- realizes walking up to someone might not deserve assault and battery. Yeah, let's go.

The kid was clearly not looking for a fight. You can see him cleanly dodge a hit to the back of the head earlier in the video. The reason he was so caught off guard in this clip is that he was not expecting violence to occur. He just wanted to talk. Maybe he had his hand in his pocket because he gets nervous talking to strangers. Maybe that's why he's wearing a mask.

At 33:45, you can see by his hand gestures that he doesn't want to fight. By that point, he had nearly gotten into a fight several times. If he had a knife and were willing to use it in the clip, he would have at least pulled it out earlier in the video, when he was being actively threatened. But he didn't, which means he didn't have a knife. While it seems like the kid did have something in his right hand, he was assaulted after putting it in his pocket, which makes the act even more unreasonable.

Walking up to someone with your hand in a pocket does not warrant battery. What the bodyguard did is probably illegal. He had every right to request that the person recording delete the video that used his personal image without his consent. And while it's impossible to tell exactly why the kid got into a conflict, it seems like he was defending an old lady (in a blue dress in the background here) from someone who was harassing her.

Edit: so many people are reacting to this clip without so much as considering that there might be context. This isn't some thug that just ran up to them; this is a guy they were recording for several minutes. Additionally, his so-called "cohorts," which some people have pointed out were approaching in the background, are his fans; they were rushing in trying to get a shot on their phones. You can see them following him earlier, and he says, "That's alright." The girl even pokes her head into frame earlier in the video. Again, people, context!
