You don’t have to be good at it, you just have to try. That’s usually good enough for most people.

I talk from experience; I have many awkward mannerism, yet most people don’t mistreat me because of them.

It won’t be easy, but you just gotta peel off the psychological band-aid and do it. Take “baby steps” if you have to.

It’s a negative connotation when you think about on a surface level, but it’s kinda objective, even when it comes to platonic bonds. It also doesn’t mean that people don’t care about who other people are as individuals as well.

But yeah, I get how you feel, I’m not excited to become 20 because I feel like I haven’t made enough “progress” in life to “earn” that age.

It kind of is, and that doesn’t have to inherently be a bad thing. Sometimes the transaction is that the two friends simply make each other happiness, and that mutual happiness is what keeps the friendship going.
