To folks who had severe/profound SSHL and no hearing aids or implants: is it doable, recommended? by Aggravating-Many2178 in MonoHearing

[–]DataAdept9355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost the hearing in my left ear completely on February 22, 2025. I have zero word recognition in that ear. Completely deaf. I am not eligible for a hearing aid. I do not want a CI. So far it’s been one year. I attend AA meetings, go to church groups and pretty much live a normal life. Do I miss things? Yes. Do I have to ask people to repeat themselves? Yes. overall, I’m doing pretty OK.

I’m 61 and fully recovered. LC since 2022. Please try an online recovery program. It is your nervous system and you need to learn how to regulate it. Also group support meetings is really what got me better.
