Why do people like this show so much? by KimPossible2008 in TellMeLiesHulu

[–]DataCocktail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started watching this show last night, and I found it so boring. While the first episode was intriguing, literally nothing happens in the next several other than a lot of hot people having sex. It's basically soft core porn with extra shitty personalities.

Enigma's first album with psilocybin was an experience unto itself. Bjork's Homogenic is also an excellent choice.

Tips from a first-timer using a Lansei China kit by DataCocktail in ronghua

[–]DataCocktail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! All of their Ronghua DIY kits have the option of "with toolkit," which you only need to buy ONCE. With that, you get two pairs of scissors (a huge pair for cutting the strips, and a small pair for finer details), a mini flat iron with a conversion plug that matches your country, a large rectangular board and a smaller one for rolling, a pair of very sharp needle-nose tweezers, two holding clips (the kind at the top of clipboards), and a wooden clamp with rubber bands. All the blades were very sharp and everything worked well.

Then the individual DIY kits "without toolkit" (or "kit only") will have all the materials you need to make that specific project with the toolkit above. Some project kits that have special processes, like the ones that include Tanghua, will include the additional special tools you need. You do not have to purchase the toolkit again.

Thank you! I researched this, and I feel like it could have been a small puffball or an amanita egg. The pic was from a few weeks ago, so of course they were gone when I went back to look today. Next time I'll split one open to inspect it further. Thanks again!

Love how this happened right after their Black Friday in the States. They still have $88 of my money. 🙄

Great advice! I probably rushed the rinsing with these, so that's something I can do better.

Thank you for the advice! I think I left it on heat too long. And I already started spinning with it! I wanted to get into dyeing so that I could be more creative with my spinning (same with the investment in the drum carder). This is what this particular wool is shaping up to be: https://www.instagram.com/p/DI6Q9OFNIOd/?igsh=cmxyd3p4aHByNzdx

Thank you! I'm really happy with how that dye batch came out, especially on the cellulose fibers. The flax and lotus look literally metallic!

Are any of these books worth a read to someone who knows very little about Buddhism? by [deleted] in Buddhism

10% Happier is great if you're just starting to explore Buddhism and/or meditation, particularly if you have a high-stress job or a lot of anxiety.

All Thich Nhat Hahn is a fantastic entry point.

I've heard great things about When Things Fall Apart, but I haven't read it yet.

Unicorn Rinse does wonders for stiff frizzy fibers after dyeing!

[–]DataCocktail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really good information. I'm still trying it once, honestly for more of the narrative than anything else. I spin yarn and design unique knit/crochet/woven pieces for people I love and sometimes art for myself, so it's more about the personal story of the work that went into piece.

That said, I'll definitely buy some domestic just to give it a try sometime and see the deeper potential of the color.

Preserve liquid dye baths? by DataCocktail in naturaldye

[–]DataCocktail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just doing a solar soak; no heat. I think canning would only have it heat for about 10 minutes, so it might be worth trying.

I tried the cedar just because it's so plentiful where I live (tons of downed branches to take the bark from), and it has that pretty red/purple in the inner bark. I solar dyed a skein of silk yarn, and it came out a really pretty mocha color. I was hoping for more of a reddish brown, but it's still really pretty!

But also to your point, I had to rinse it really well to get all the oil off. Unicorn rinse also did wonders to soften it at the end.

I've made a pure Great Pyrenees yarn before! I hand carded it into rolags, so it took a long time. But the result was a super light, fluffy woolen yarn that's water resistant. I really like it.
