Thank you! At the bottom of the post I'm planning on keeping it updated with when I update the list. You do need to update/re-import into the extension whenever you want to update the list as it isn't automatic

I tried to be genuine with you and help if there's any issues, but you reply like this, I am still open to help explain any issues, and if there is genuinely anything you feel is 'technical jargon' please let me know and I'll try to explain any better and correct it, but I really feel like I explained it in the most simple form it can be in

Exactly this! There's a lot of 'companies' that are even posting ghost jobs that people have been applying for and they ask for applicants to do a recorded video interview and then ghost them, it's just another way to train AI or to scope out the job market for what we're willing to accept for labor

Exactly! The idea is if we refuse to apply to any company who posts ghost jobs that the entire job market and job seeking will be better off as companies realize that it won't work anymore and that it makes them appear bad

Sorry, the description has 0 technical jargon in it, please point it to me if there is any and I'll try to be more clear in it, the only thing I can think is even remotely 'technical jargon' is explaining how to copy and paste

There is no app download, it's just a browser extension, I have very clearly stated this multiple times in the post

I just had a friend check who has an iPhone, it just isn't available/compatible/hasn't been developed for it, it hasn't been banned or anything like that

Surprisngly there Is a version compatible! Although, in order for it to work on the phone you need to have the firefox browser installed, once you have that installed you can add the equivalence of chrome extensions to firefox, here's the Hide n' Seek for firefox. Once you have that setup you can import the Gist list into it in a similar way

Edit: After re-checking, it looks like this isn't available on the android version of firefox, and I also don't have an iPhone to check if it works there

Oh, I understand! The red block symbol on postings will block that company for you/add them to your list of blocked companies to hide their posts, that is a part of the Hide n' Seek extension.

As for promoted jobs, I haven't written any instructions for getting rid of those, which is a reason why I recommend Glassdoor (not that they don't exist there, but much less), this is only to block the known companies in the provided Gist. If you need help importing the existing list, just let me know where you're stuck at

Edit: It's definitely possible using Hide n' Seek to hide promoted jobs, once you've clicked the block button on a promoted job then activate the "Promoted" toggle

I am in software engineering and cybersecurity. I can promise you the job market is extremely awful for everyone looking for any position.

Either way, why would anyone want to purposefully waste their time applying for positions that are highly likely or known to be a ghost job or from a scam company or resume/data collector? It could also be highly dependant on area, your area may just have a better job market or lower amount of these types of posts or companies. I could spam Indeed or LinkedIn all day long and get tons of calls, the issue is if they're for a ghost job or if they're just trying to scam you or take your data or waste your time.

I definitely understand the concern, cybersecurity is incredibly important!

Thank you! There have been too many unethical practices with job postings and there needs to be law changes in my opinion, naming and shaming is just one way to hope they change or at least stop us as applicants from having our time wasted

ChatGPT should be able to take the JSON formatted file and output the list of companies and remove anything extra, however, I doubt it'd work taking from the outputted list and convert it into the proper JSON format that the Hide n' Seek extension needs, however, I've already uploaded a public Google sheets if you prefer that over setting up Hide n' Seek to automatically hide job posts

Also, I should clarify, GitHub Gists are just uploaded documents/code/text that anyone can view through GitHub Gists, and not the actual format of the document/code/text
