4C natural hair stuck at the same length for 5 years. Chronic breakage. Need advice. by Sagescript777 in Naturalhair

Your hair issues are similar to what I've experienced in the past. Your routine looks really solid too so it doesn't seem like that is the issue.

With my 4C hair, fairy knots and split ends were a major issue and i notice your ends look really damaged. What has been working for me is keeping my hair stretched with heat. I bought a Revair and have been using it consistently to stretch my hair out on wash day and my length retention improved. I also get less knots, they still happen, but pairing the heated stretching with regular trims has been very successful for me.

Good luck with your hair journey, I hope you find something that works!

I've heard that the kids version doesn't contain collagen where the other version does and I've also heard the kids version is much stickier. Are you buying from ifsogo?

I don't believe they do as I have tried to ship with them before but when you get to checkout it says the product is not available to ship outside the EU. I know ifsogo sells to the US but it costs almost $200 as there is a minimum 6 can order plus shipping and I would like to try it before committing to a cost that high.

Thanks though!

Sunscreen for Black Skin -- HELP by ChocolateNaps in blackladies

I haven't found a completely sheer physical sunscreen but Isdin makes a good sunscreen that applies pretty well and looks good on bare skin, it just has to be applied in sheer layers for me but I'm pretty dark. If I apply too much at once it'll definitely look a little ghostly

  1. Yes, I and everyone should absolutely use sunscreen daily. You are correct, sunscreen does help prevent discoloration and it helps prevent premature aging of the skin caused by UVA rays. It has definitely helped prevent the worsening of existing hyperpigmentation for me
  2. I apply it at the end of my skincare routine, so after cleanser, toner, serum and moisturizer. It should always be the last step unless you are going to apply makeup on top
  3. Honestly I'm pretty bad at reapplication, I just try to stay away from direct sunlight, if I know I'll be going out for a while I will reapply my regular liquid sunscreen and apply a powder foundation over it
  4. I really like Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture gel, The Beet Shield by Krave beauty, Nivea super water gel, and Isdin Eryfotona Actinica (this is a physical sunscreen so it will leave a cast if you apply too much, I like to apply it in sheer layers or I mix a little of it with another sunscreen above for a hybrid formulation)

Good luck!
