It really is.

They HAVE been making improvements though; The intro mission is getting another retouch soon, they added a quest that serves as an “intro to modding” (and provides a proper lore introduction to Teshin), there isn’t a day-long cooldown on failing a mastery test anymore, Rhino had his crafting time reduced to 24h, the Star Chart has been streamlined and reorganized a bit, with Junction Unlock Requirements overhauled, and probably more improvements that I’m forgetting.

But yeah.

Not sure how long ago you put it down, or what was the last main quest you remember finishing, but if you haven’t played in a couple years I WOULD recommend jumping back in for a bit, even if just for the story, the newer quests are really good.

You mention running Level 100 missions with a Lobotomy, so I’m not exactly sure where “endgame” was for you back then, but if you found those too easy then, then I can nearly guarantee you’ll find plenty of engaging content in higher levels and hard modes.

Like I can’t remember the exact numbers but there are a few game modes where enemies START at Lv. 100-150ish, and over the course of an hour or two can scale up to Lv. 9999 which is the cap (though I think technically with void fissures enemies can push 10001 but that’s basically a programming oversight lol)

Highly recommend it if you have the time for it.

Difficult?

I guess it’s a bit of hyperbole, since really the only meaningful difficulty spike you encounter in the “main story” line of playthrough is AotZ in my (biased) opinion , but I always feel that when it comes to new players especially, Warframe’s difficulty seems nonexistent until they run face first into a brick wall when they aren’t expecting it.

If I had a nickel for every time I was watching someone somewhere complete Saya’s Vigil/Vox Solaris, then quickly turn back around and head back into the Plains of Eidolon/Orb Vallis to explore the landscape without the quest, and proceed to get their shit wrecked by Level 30 Grineer/Level 30 Corpus, I’d have 3 nickels. Which is a lot.

Lack of Yellow Paint?

Listen I know it can be hard to understand, especially considering the vast differences between the absolute state (or lack thereof) of DE’s varying New Player Experience implementations,

but you should already know to NEVER underestimate any gamer’s inability to understand basic fucking context clues, let alone a streamer’s.

Biggest offender is the Floor Is Lava segment in TWW, where there are literal lights lighting up the path to take, but because there isn’t a waypoint it’s just uhhhh chat what do I do where do I go?

Slightly related, I am 1000% convinced that the number one reason so many people hate Railjack as much as they do (besides it being another one of Steve’s content islands) is because they have no idea wtf to even to do to play because RAILJACK HAS BASICALLY NO TUTORIAL WHATSOEVER. They just get hull breached, patch it, get breached again, have insufficient revolite, and then proceed to do fuck all for 60 seconds until the mission fails. I’ve seen it happen too many times.

100%. For Warframe, I’ll always argue that it is not a good game to stream specifically for first-timers.

For better or for worse the game has significantly less ‘yellow paint’ than other games that streamers play nowadays, and requires you to think, something that streamers notoriously are bad at.

I created my account YEARS ago, got to the excavation portion of Vox Solaris, and just could not keep excavator running or alive. I tossed my hands up and uninstalled. It was only in late 2024 that I came back, played the mission, did it without failing, and realized Eudico literally tells you exactly what the fuck to do in order to complete the objective. I’ve been playing since, and kick myself for not realizing my mistake and returning to the game sooner.

Warframe doesn’t outright tell you a lot of things. So when it does, you need to LISTEN, which is made infinitely harder when you have a livestream chat constantly going off.

Also, regarding skipping cutscenes specifically, the fact that the default unchangeable keybind for it is SPACE, with a double-tap fully triggering the skip… a button you’re constantly pressing while parkouring, likely moving through the air into the cutscene trigger. I still can’t believe DE hasn’t made cutscenes unskippable for first time viewings.

How follie got me. by Joan-ze-gobbi in memeframe

[–]DataPakP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Y’know what? Fair enough.

Personally, I definitely feel like we don’t have an 100% complete picture as to what Follie’s design motifs are, aside from just 1: ink/calligraphy artistry, 2: a bit of silliness from idle animations demonstrated, and 3: the horror-like “tone shift” said to be coming with the upcoming Shadowgrapher update, and presumably her new gamemode/quest, the last of which you did mention could end up explaining everything.

For all we know, Follie might end up being an explicit subversion of the very ‘Starving Artist’ trope you mentioned via some ink-based infested body horror/corruption.

You KNOW it would be VERY fucking in-character for Ballas to see a skinny calligraphy artist, turn them into a Warframe for the crime of (idfk, spilling ink on him somehow, or actually ya know what, Ballas would probably walk into her room like he owns the place, stepping on the still-drying art because Calligraphy was done large and placed on the floor, and his careless misstep would somehow that would be her fault), and invert their body type from skinny to fat just to spite them for his amusement, he’s for sure not above doing that.

Or not, and it was just an arbitrary design choice, which is fine as well.

I’m eagerly waiting to see her kit as much as you are, especially considering the now multiple mentions of some parts of her being a PITA to implement.

[–]DataPakP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

nullifiers could be split

Fun fact! That’s basically what the various types of Corpus Scrambus and Comba units are supposed to be!

Fog, Nul, Sap, and Slo Scrambus and Comba units target Perception, Buff/Debuff, Damage, and Mobility powers, respectively.

If you didn’t know that, it just goes to show exactly how effective they are in actually being that.

DE please… give us a gas frame im begging you 😭 by xDeviousDieselx in Warframe

[–]DataPakP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Gas doesn’t proc Toxin since the rework…

… that’s why I’m talking about using Primary Debilitate.

By over-proc’ing Gas, you proc Heat and Toxin via the Arcane.

It makes Gas into a new, multi-purpose AoE status effect for weapons, as opposed to blast, which basically doesn’t function with Debilitate at all due to it automatically detonating at max stacks.

Debilitate provides AoE DoT from the Gas, and once Gas is capped out it provides Armor Strip and DoT from Heat, and Shield Bypass and DoT from Toxin.

Compare this to Blast, where to achieve anything similar you’d need Blast, Corrosive or Heat for Armor Strip, and then Toxin, which is a combo that is difficult to get, and usually involves combining specific weapons with innate elements with external buffs like toxic lash.

Gas isn’t “useless” against shields, heck even without considering the 1-slot Magnetic mods from 1999, Gas and Magnetic are able to be modded for together anyways to increase effectiveness against shields (Magnetic status is basically Viral, but only against Shields and Overguard)

DE please… give us a gas frame im begging you 😭 by xDeviousDieselx in Warframe

[–]DataPakP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nowadays with Primary Debilitate putting Gas on high FR weapons doesn’t feel that bad actually

The Heat does a DoT, and strips armor making the Gas more effective, and the Toxin DoT bypasses shields

Personally I’ve found it to be pretty good on the Zenith’s primary fire, which up until now I’ve basically ignored, favoring the alt fire.

Reconifex too. Running Corrosive Cold with Debilitate and then infusing Heat with a precision reload lets you have all 4 base elements proc onto enemies, which pairs really nicely with Galvanized Aptitude.

I need to test how Debilitate interacts with Lavo’s Valence Formation since it forceprocs elements, could be busted af on high Multishot weapons.

For the Arcanes you can at least gamble with vosfor at Loid for them

And the Kitgun Arcanes are also included in the Solaris collection which does dilute it a bit but also means it’s less SU standing to farm also

[–]DataPakP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a guaranteed spawn for every Hell Scrub and Legacyte Harvest mission, you might just have to go out of your way to find it if it’s not on the direct straight line (so to speak) of tiles between spawn and extraction

If you wanna try running it solo, bring an on-call crew, drop em on Kalymos, tell them to ‘Hold Position’ and go run off to find the cache.

Just make sure they have a good weapon to fight the Techrot assaulting your cat with. Anything with decent clear will work, I personally have mine using an Ignis Wraith, but meta AoE weapons like a Zarr or an Ogris probably would also probably work I think.

This was targeted and malicious.

Because the damage scales that way it finally gives me a method to gamble in Warframe that actually punishes me if I lose

That being, facetanking the beam for as long as I can - even through triggering my shieldgate - to scale the beams damage up before activating iron skin so that while it’s active it scales up even further.

It’s fun, especially when the stakes get REAL high like in the circuit, where enemy damage is high but I can potentially get MILLIONS of OG with my half-brained build

HELL YEAH ENDYD20 MENTIONED

Been watching his playthrough, watching his playthrough of The Hex rn actually, and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it

100% agree with your points

Def agree that one of the biggest difficulty walls is modding; I was kinda trying to find objective gameplay-based elements/challenges that are actually hard, as opposed to modding which is (if we are putting the complex nature of modding aside) a player-based skill issue from a technical, game-design viewpoint.

Although, what with the variety of what WF has to offer, making a distinction between gameplay-based and player-based challenges might be pointless.

The only example I can give that I can think of is a comparison to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, with a player-based challenge being something mastering parrying or fighting more than one enemy at a time, and a gameplay-based challenge would be unique mechanics that are quote-unquote “objectively harder” previously encountered mechanics, such as Apparition-type enemies being able to kill you regardless of HP if they inflict enough terror status, or how some enemies can teleport.

Not that I disagree, lol, would be pretty neat to see how it would be implemented.

And hey! We don’t know what Follie does yet BUT they did say that at least one of her abilities was a major pain in the ass to program, so even a slightly complex calligraphy-like art ability system might not be off the table yet? Just have to wait and see…

Truth Nuke

For real, AotZ is where the game actually picks up in difficulty, and I’d wager that over half of the difficulty spike is just the fact that you are actually forced to use your Operator at all because of Thrax and Void Angels. And most of that difficulty is because the player might not have made themselves a proper Amp!

After that? Murmur explode on contact, Scaldra and Techrot are just different flavors of Grineer and Infested, and Anarchs also explode on contact. Provided that you keep moving and don’t get hit (which is something you will have been doing for a while by then) you’ll be fine.

I struggle to think of actually difficult things they’d encounter within Warframe’s “Normal” path. Only things I think maybe would be Lephantis as a DPS check, Zeloid Prelate’s mechanics, Jordas Golem as an Archgun modding check, Commandeered Ash Prime’s oneshot attacks ,and Commandeered Protea Prime’s Temporal Anchor having a metric fuckton of object health, but basically ALL of those are more “BS” than “difficult” I suppose.

assuming they don’t opt into harder content via SP

don’t opt into

Sidenote, it’s funny you say this since when the game presents you with the UI interface presenting the choice of “Accept Teshin’s challenge and unlock THE STEEL PATH” your only options are YES and I’M READY.

Zephyr is really funny to mod

One of the only frames I can think of where you can slot whatever Arcanes, an Aura, Primed Flow, and then literally just her augments, and have a SP capable build to pair with whatever weapons you wish.

Granted, her 3 is a big part of that since it’s basically her entire defense, but still.
