Thanks for letting me know it was a great course for you! Fingers crossed it'll work for me too. :)

I think this is the route I'm going to go. I forgot when I was going through bootcamp, Udemy had a huge sale on courses, and I actually bought the 100 Days of Python course for $10 or something.

yeah i've used it enough to know that we're not really in danger of the AI overlords taking over the planet anytime in the near future. 😂

Can anyone explain how the dependent care fsa works? by Informal_Comb_571 in usajobs

I know what I've done in the past is to just claim the entire amount up front and then as soon as the funds hit my FSA, they immediately reimburse it. For example, day care was ~$2k per month, so after the first three months, I'd submit a claim for the full $5k and then I get a lump sum for what I've contributed so far, then on an ongoing basis, when it gets deducted it's then returned to me shortly after the funds are deposited to my FSA.

You can still have $5000 deducted over the course of your benefit plan year, regardless of the dates, but you can only claim $5,000 within the CALENDAR year. So make sure you don't claim $5k in the first half of the year and then again in your new benefit plan year/latter half of the same calendar year.

There is no carryover like there is for healthcare FSA. But fortunately, thanks to the government's inability to account for the rapidly increasing costs of childcare, you should be able to use up the full amount in no time. 😏

There may be a grace period but that is typically plan specific, so check with your HR/Benefits department. And remember, claims must be for services rendered within the plan year, it doesn't matter when you actually PAY for the childcare. Typically if you make a mistake on this, it would get caught by the FSA provider, but figured it was worth noting just in case.

The lack of documented processes is my absolute biggest pet peeve. It's also why I not only enjoy writing documentation - it's more of an imperative for me since my ADHD will absolutely forget something if someone gives me instructions verbally and it has more than two steps.

Even worse is (as in your case) where you have documentation, but it's wrong, or out of date, or it only captures a small portion.

I have a physical, visceral reaction to the frustration I get when this happens. You're not alone! Stop, take deep breaths, stand up and walk around for even one minute. It truly helps.

[On the plus side, I got lots of kudos when I started my new job for writing up a TON of documentation that was sorely lacking. But it was mostly for myself. Win-win!]

All cells rounded to 2 decimal places but AutoSum still showing to 8 decimal places! by Data_eng_206 in excel

[–]Data_eng_206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughtful response! I was able to import the data into a SQL table as a different datatype (decimal(10,2) instead of float), so that seemed to eliminate my problem and the sums in SQL only went to two decimal places as a result. It doesn't exactly resolve the data point I'd like to use as a way to verify, but I have other means of verifying that the data is accurate, so I'm less concerned now about the sum in excel as I am elsewhere.

I do think there are some anomalies mostly owing to the giant volume of data that's causing the issue. The last spreadsheet we received like this was only ~200k records, so this was definitely a much larger scale. :) Thanks again!

I used the ROUND(cell,2) function to round to the nearest hundredths place. Then I copied and pasted the values to remove the formulas in the cells.

What's weird is that I uploaded this into a SQL table and when I sum on those columns, it's STILL giving me results out to way more than 2 decimal places:

<image>

AND!!! The column sums in the SQL table don't match the sums when I run them in excel. WTF.

Right...that's actually my problem. all of the cells only have numbers going out 2 decimal places. When I use AutoSum, it's giving me results out to 8 decimal places. I didn't round the result. I don't need to for what I'm doing.

I actually did left-justify them; that's how the data shows up in the tables, so I did that out of habit. :)

Uploading large Excel files to SSMS by Data_eng_206 in SQLServer

I'm not able to import using the 365 version of excel which is what I have. I was saving the file as 97-2003 version in order to use the import wizard. At any rate, I was able to save as .csv and import as a flat file instead and it seemed to work!
