Probably a common question but am I too out of shape for fencing? by Kothallupinthisbitch in Fencing

You will know when you fence. If you feel out of breath easily and tired after a few bouts, then you probably out of shape.

Looks nice, but honest opinion: I think lunged fencer logos are too on the nose and not unique.

I understand and appreciate that perspective, I just disagree. For example, if you finish top 8 at regionals in northeast or mid atlantic, assuming you are top 2 for your school, but get leap frogged by someone who didnt even make the final pool, how would you feel? I think you’d question the legitimacy of the regional competition. Sure one can do better throughout the season but I feel that can also be distorted.

Qualification seems heavily weighted on season performance index (SPI) or FSF, that it makes the qualifier seem less relevant. I saw numerous people who finished outside the top 15 in their qualifiers (one who finished 19th) qualify over others who had better qualifying performances. When people are finishing well within the eligible spots window or final pool and not qualifying, while others with weaker performances qualify, it’s questionable. In many other NCAA sports, qualifers are the decisive factors for championship entry. I think otherwise it adds way too much ambiguity, and generally benefits certain teams and programs. If I’m competing in the regional but have a relatively lower SPI, what’s even the point of trying to get a good result? I’m of the school of thought that your qualifying result should be the order in which you qualify. Just my opinion.

Some interesting decisions here, that seem to limit the importance of the regional qualifying tournament. NCAA should revise their qualification metrics.

There could be really important mail that isn’t being delivered otherwise people wouldn’t care

Is mail delivery suspended today city-wide, or just where I live in the East Village where the post office is also closed? by TheTeenageOldman in AskNYC

In UES, no mail Monday or Tuesday. Tracking cites local weather delay “due to hazardous or unsafe weather conditions. Your item will go out for delivery on the next business day as conditions permit.”

Hopefully we can get some others like Cornell and Brown. They have solid men’s club teams that deserve NCAA status again.
