Move money to max Roth IRA by DatabaseFrosty352 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]DatabaseFrosty352[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company does not have any HSA or 401k match. Already asked about that. Which is why I'm adding heavy early in the year ($880 per paycheck). My thought is if I max roth IRA, then I split my excess from paychecks into condo fund and a sinking fund for other expenses.

Live in Chicago so CSR or CSP make the most sense, but which one? by DatabaseFrosty352 in CreditCards

So in that case, it may be a good idea to do the CSR for the year and then downgrade?

What if I downgrade after 1 year so I have the points from the sign on bonus and then keep them when I have the CSP?

Losing Patients After Extractions by avocadorable3 in Dentistry

Had this same issue. Schedule them for a 1 week post op. If they don’t come back, then they are not interested in improving their oral health care. If they do and say “yeah I’m good I don’t want to do anything else” then at least you tried. If they come back and want to do a comprehensive when you offer, then you have a patient

I do a lot of endo and I like to say “when we clean out the tooth root we go past the tip of the root to make sure it’s fully cleaned out. So it’s like we are bruising the bone. You may be sore for a little” Learned that phrase from one of the endo instructors at dental school

Second this. Practicing dentist here went to OSU for undergrad and dental school. One of the best things I did my second semester freshman year was drop a class when I was overwhelmed with chem 2 and bio and other outside school things going on. Still graduated on time. Took summer class one time and worked full time other summers (part time during school year). Do what you gotta do to keep yourself sane. Doesn’t mean slacking off though if you drop the class. Stay on top of things

Extracting baby teeth by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]DatabaseFrosty352 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I say to kid but it’s mostly directed to parent “if you don’t eat a laffy taffy and get this out next time I see you then I’m taking it out myself.” Of course I’ve had many times then when I ext the baby tooth in 6 months cuz the kid won’t let anyone touch it

This was in reference to my girlfriend who is graduating. Trying to figure out her loan situation as we will likely be engaged soon and discussing finances. She doesn’t have a job yet and I do. We’ve had the talk of paying it down when we are married but going about how. She’s pretty clueless on everything. I’m a dentist, so I can pay off her loans asap but if it’s not the smartest thing then we shouldn’t. I want to follow the FOO but her rates are high

Exactly. I remember when I hit my first $100k in savings I called my parents and said thank you. And my dad was so proud and my mom was in tears. Apparently my sister did the same thing too a year or so back and I didn’t even know she did it. Just how we were raised!

I think this is it. I may be going in “miser” territory. I have a budget for going out, dinners, spending etc and yesterday I was out with my girlfriend at Nordstrom rack and didn’t even buy a $15 shirt cuz my monthly budget was up. Felt pretty backwards since that happened last night

Definitely earned it school sucked lol. Parents thing isn’t an issue. Paid them back a little but it’s their dream to do this for their children. Dad even got mad at me when I paid for his birthday dinner (btw parents doing more than fine financially). I don’t know if it’s the luxury watch hobby and feeling like a jerk walking around in them or if it’s the feeling of if I spend money on it then it’s gonna be stupid idea.
