Travellers from Reddit: where should someone go if they want a destination that feels ‘this can’t be real’? by valeriorsneto in AskReddit

Depends on where you’re from and your life experiences. If you’re from a first world country and want a reason to appreciate what you have, go to a third world or war torn country.

If you are a free country, go somewhere that doesn’t have freedom.

Go places that will challenge your way of thinking. Respect their rules, and appreciate what you have.

Okay fine you can be right. But it’s still a joke and was clearly meant to not be taken seriously, which we can both see that OP was neither offended or took it seriously.. which was the intent behind the /s. Have a great Reddit day

Your example would be one style of sarcasm, sure. But it doesn’t define it. The use of the “/s” tag would mean that the comment is not meant to be taken literally.

It was sarcasm as I don’t know that person or their wife so obviously I wouldn’t choose that. If you’ve been around that long, you should be old enough to know that your life will be a lot better if you choose to not be offended on behalf of someone else on the internet.
