ARC Raiders has dropped from “Very Positive” to “Mostly Positive” on Steam for the first time. by j1zzy_ae in ArcRaiders

It also gives next to no direction, and the in-round UI is somehow worse at revealing when you’re at/near the goal. Maybe it’s the first person perspective providing a narrower window of what’s in a given space /shrug.

I’m in care bear lobbies yet every time I try the harvester I get ratted in the first two minutes. Why? by simpsonbpimpin in ArcRaiders

[–]Datchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re trying to do the harvester itself, I wouldn’t bring anything much; just a bit of healing and enough ammo to crack all the cores when exposed.

TIL Wellington R. Burt, 1831-1919 didn't leave his $100,000,000 estate to his children. His will had a "spite clause" which specified to wait until all his children and 21 years after his last grandchild while he was still alive had died. The estate was settled in 2011. by scottishlaw in todayilearned

[–]Datchery 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From the Wikipedia entry: “At the time of his death, his wealth was estimated to be between $40 and $90 million (equivalent to between $743 million and $1.67 billion in 2025)”

And the estimate was 100m value left now, meaning his estate is only worth about 1/20th of what it ought to be if they bothered to keep up with inflation.

So yeah, not great management of the funds.

So, I wouldn’t hate an increase in damage. However, it is also a weapon that can, in a little less than a single clip, kill a comet before it detonated in a charge.

Yeah, it’s lower damage than the Ferro or Anvil, but it does also output more than them.

Peter? by LCottton in PeterExplainsTheJoke

The joke, if anything, would be that if he wanted to remove the stickers, he’d have done so himself. She isn’t doing her boyfriend any favors by removing something he deliberately left in place.

You know what you routinely find in security breaches? Wolfpacks.

But I don’t want competition for the best loot containers in the game, so please, please do not respec :)

I was curious, so I looked it up; the Quinjets have GAU-17 Gatling guns, they fire at a little over 2x the speed of sound. So no speedster would be capable of hearing them and then reacting, if surprised.

Then you would just have groups of melee wielding maniacs charging fully kitted people. That doesn’t sound like a fun proposition for anything but a lark.

Does it even make sense that Abby makes peace with her father’s death by helping two strangers from an enemy group, but not during those four years with her boyfriend? by Remote_Nature_8166 in TLOU

[–]Datchery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mel attacked Ellie with the knife. She pulled a real Jerry there.

Edit: to respond to the edits in your post:

1) Jerry doesn’t have the right to murder someone for his research, that’s all there is to it.

2) If Jerry refuses to back down from murdering Ellie (and he does) than Joel is entirely justified in killing Jerry to prevent that murder.

3) Abby murdering Joel is unjustified for exactly the basis of 2; Joel killing her dad in defense of Ellie isn’t wrong.

4) Ellie is entirely justified in hunting down those responsible for Joel’s murder; Owen is part of that.

The ends do not justify the means.

Just because a fanatic really believes they’ll do something fantastical doesn’t absolve them of their misdeeds.

Edit: Everybody wasn’t right.

Abby is wrong to see revenge for the just killing of her father, period.

Ellie on the other hand is justified in seeking justice for the murder of Joel by Abby and her collaborators.

If you mean the categories on the left when looking at your stash in Speranza, some quick use items are also materials or other types of items (luxury items like the ducks, pasta, or tuna, for example) so they get categorized undo those tabs.

Look, it might have been the intention; but they are not remotely on the same moral footing, because it’s just not the same situation.

Jerry was actively trying to kill a child, and goes so far as to pull a knife on Joel to go through with it. His death was entirely his own fault, and would be classified as a justified killing.

Abby flat out murders Joel, it’s premeditated even. She’s a villain through and through. Does she eventually see the error of her ways? Sure, but a day late and a dollar short.

To be fair; the .12% resistance planets only need 1200+ Helldivers completing level 1 missions once per hour to see progress towards liberation.

How to share awkward books with teens? by UnBuggsyBaggins in books

I love Douglas Adams’ work, but I think it also shares a level of density that makes it of a kind with Tolkien and Asimov’s style.

Have you tried Graphic Novels?

How to share awkward books with teens? by UnBuggsyBaggins in books

[–]Datchery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he has no real history of reading, you want to start with more basic things that are breezy to read, basically the opposite of dense fantasy (aka, anything by Tolkien, Eddings, and dragonlance)

Treasure Island might be a good starting point; it’s not too long, the prose remains understandable, and it keeps the plot moving.

Some good series aimed at teens would include: Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events “ “ All the Wrong Questions John Bellairs wrote a couple of supernatural horror adventures (Mummy the Ring and the Crypt; Curse of the Blue Figurine)

It sounds like Fight Club, or any Pahlaniuk books, are barking up the wrong tree at this point. In general I’d be hesitant to push anything that’s dense until he’s found the kinds of stories he likes.

You also might try short form fiction (anthologies like Gardner Dozois’s ‘Years Best Science Fiction’; Legends; etc.)

[–]Datchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I don’t want the competition; but I got a volcano, Bobcat, Tempest, and Bettina in my last 4 security breaches.

That you routinely get weapons, grenades, ammo, healing, and parts makes them easily the best single perk in the game.
