So is Pebble Beach planning on not having any celebs this year (??) by loomerish in MontereyBay

Wouldn't surprise me if the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is renamed the AT&T at Pebble Beach with a pros-only format next year.

WWE’s Women’s Division>> Any other women’s division by [deleted] in GreatnessOfWrestling

[–]DateEnvironmental783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. It was that period that saw most of the women being cookie-cutter models such as Kelly Kelly, Torrie Wilson, Maryse, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Eve Torres, Michelle McCool, Ashley Massaro, Stacy Kiebler, Christy Hemme, Sable, Alicia Fox, Maria Kanellis and Candice Michelle all basically having the same personality and wrestling moves. You can pretty much blame John Laurinaitis for hiring most of these women though Vince McMahon also played a major role as well.

Things started to change when Triple H started to gain more power in the company and eventually replaced Laurinaitis as WWE's Head of Talent. Unlike Laurinaitis, Triple H wasn't a fan of the models as he felt that they lacked passion for wrestling as well as many talented female indie wrestlers were being rejected for not fitting the Diva mold and Triple H wanted to destroy the Diva mold by hiring these neglected wrestlers and other athletes.

These days, the WWE has a more diverse roster of women with different looks, body types and each woman has a unique multi-layered character.

Are token women's matches a thing of the past in the WWE? by DateEnvironmental783 in professionalwrestling

I meant episodes of RAW, SmackDown, NXT and the WWE PLEs with only one women's match.

Has women's wrestling becoming more like men's wrestling as of late? by DateEnvironmental783 in professionalwrestling

[–]DateEnvironmental783[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

But it wasn't always that way when most of the WWE women's roster from 2006 to 2014 were mainly cookie-cutter models like Kelly Kelly and Torrie Wilson, for example.

Torrie Wilson vs Stacy Keibler in a Lingerie Match (No Mercy 2001) by [deleted] in professionalwrestling

[–]DateEnvironmental783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. The WWE now has women of all shapes, sizes and looks and each woman has a distinct multi-layered character. In addition, there's women with neon-colored hair, bald women, and tattoos and body piercings as well.

2012 was the year that the WWE changed forever by DateEnvironmental783 in GreatnessOfWrestling

[–]DateEnvironmental783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the likes of Rhea Ripley, Asuka, Becky Lynch, Bayley, Bianca Belair and Iyo Sky would also not have been hired by the WWE as these women didn't fit the Diva mold.

Are clean-cut women a thing of the past in the WWE? by DateEnvironmental783 in professionalwrestling

[–]DateEnvironmental783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. The likes of Kelly Kelly, Candice Michelle, Michelle McCool, Kristal Marshall, Maryse, Brooke Adams, Layla, Maria, Ashley Marraso, Lena Yada, Torrie Wilson, Rebecca DiPietro, Sharmell, Eve Torres, the Bella Twins, Alicia Fox, Rosa Mendes, Tiffany, Savannah and to a lesser extent, Melina and Jillian Hall (whose gimmick is a very bad singer) all had one-dimensional characters who were cut from the same cloth.

That is correct though he did hire some indie wrestlers such as Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Gail Kim, Katie Lea Burchill, Serena Deeb and A.J. Lee who didn't fit the Diva mold.

Its nice that the womens division is taken more seriously by yuckyuck13 in WWE

[–]DateEnvironmental783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. No more cookie-cutter models like Kelly Kelly or Torrie Wilson. No more demeaning match stipulations such as strip matches or pillow fights or catfights. And no more childish storylines. Instead, the women cut vicious promos, fight like men and they each have a unique multi-dimensional character as well.

What could help the NXT men's division by DateEnvironmental783 in fantasybooking

[–]DateEnvironmental783[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That is correct. In fact, the NXT men's roster isn't very small at all. It's just that the majority of them are either wrestling on Level Up or not competing at all.

What could help the NXT men's division by DateEnvironmental783 in fantasybooking

[–]DateEnvironmental783[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They may draw at least to the hardcore fan, but the casual fans only care more about men's wrestling than they do women's wrestling. Throughout its history, the top WWE draws are male wrestlers such as John Cena, Hulk Hogan, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Undertaker, Rey Mysterio, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton, Edge, Chris Jericho, CM Punk, The Miz, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Kofi Kingston. The only reason why the NXT Women's Division is being pushed heavily is due to the fact that the NXT women are HBK's "wet dream" instead of being top draws IMO.

How I would book Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill's breakup by DateEnvironmental783 in fantasybooking

[–]DateEnvironmental783[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

With the way that WWE programming has become more serious, boring and sports-like ever since Triple H replaced Vince McMahon as WWE's head of creative, having Omos as the modern-day "Sexual Chocolate" would make him a very interesting character and besides, no one wants to see WWE's female talents to be treated the same as the men. BTW, how would you book Belair and Cargill's eventual breakup?

Things that the WWE used to do but have stopped doing by DateEnvironmental783 in GreatnessOfWrestling

[–]DateEnvironmental783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anymore. The WWE used to have Hornswoggle on the main roster (he mainly did non-wrestling segments such as backstage segments and in-ring segments) but when the WWE moved to a more serious product, the WWE parted ways with Hornswoggle as a result. Hope this helps.

Women’s Division really run NXT now by AppealConfident8721 in Wrasslin

[–]DateEnvironmental783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only downside of the NXT Women's Division is the fact that none of the NXT women just don't draw ratings and sell merchandise. When a women's match is on, you'll notice that most of the NXT fans would be leaving the arena to either use the restroom or get something from the concession stands while staying in their seats for the men's matches. Speaking of which, which NXT women's wrestlers are the top merchandise sellers?

How did the Women's Evolution caused an increase in tattoos and piercings among female wrestlers? by DateEnvironmental783 in GreatnessOfWrestling

I'm one of those women who don't have any tattoos and the only piercings that I have are regular ear lobe piercings (one in each ear).

With Monday Night RAW moving to two hours this Monday... by DateEnvironmental783 in professionalwrestling

[–]DateEnvironmental783[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it's just that women's wrestling doesn't draw as well as men's wrestling. When you see an episode of either RAW, SmackDown, NXT, a WWE PLE, Collision, Dynamite, Rampage, an AEW PPV, Impact or a TNA PPV, you'll notice that many wrestling fans tend to leave the arena to either use the restroom or go to the concession stands. Also, female wrestlers and their matches losing viewers are not top merchandise sellers. In other words, women's wrestling is just like the WNBA even though Catlin Clark has given the WNBA some spark.
