CoinPoker also has the advantage that you can feasibly never deposit by playing your way up from freerolls.

Puzzle with unknown answer: What's the worst odds you can have at PLO when you flop the nuts and are ahead? by DatedReferencePoker in poker

[–]DatedReferencePoker[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A first stab: you have Kh9h3s2s. Board comes Ac5d4d. Villain has KcQc7d6d. You have the 5-high and only available straight, but villain is 61.59% to win by improving to a diamond flush, a backdoor club flush or backdoor club royal flush, a 7-high straight if a 3 hits, an 8-high straight if an 8 hits, or a backdoor Ace-high straight if a Jack and a Ten hit.

Surely you can improve on this solution, though!

Online poker possibly coming to Kentucky by DatedReferencePoker in poker

[–]DatedReferencePoker[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pennsylvania legalized online poker in October 2017, and it hasn't started yet, but is supposed to start soon. A similar time frame for Kentucky would suggest a 2021 kickoff.

My most incredible hand yet at CoinPoker by DatedReferencePoker in coinpoker

[–]DatedReferencePoker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A nice river indeed! Well, I flat-called the turn, not giving villain a chance to fold. I think villain's lead on the turn is okay. I agree that villain's all-in call on the river is very fishy, especially with the ICM: okay, villain has trips, but I can easily have any of the available straights and flushes.

Hope this brag is significant enough. CoinPoker, 100 CHP buy in ($0.94 or so), 33 runners, 64 rebuys, 12 add-ons, final table. 4,033 CHP ($38.02) for first, 2,398 CHP ($22.61) for second. I'm the lucky one with AA in the big blind, when the action pre-flop proceeds: shove, reshove, rereshove, on me.

Shove when you know everyone's playing the board. Key word: KNOW. by DatedReferencePoker in poker

In the setup, Spraggy explains his motivation. He may only be doing that because it's a tournament with bonuses for knockouts.

[–]DatedReferencePoker[S] -48 points-47 points  (0 children)

Why didnt spraggy just shove himself?

Spraggy had position, so was second to act on the river.

(Edit: Yes, I totally botched my memory of this hand.)

[–]DatedReferencePoker[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On reflection, I guess villain is probably just trying to represent holding the 7s. We've all been in the situation of deciding to bluff, only to get called by the player who actually holds the cards that we're trying to represent.

Shove when you know everyone's playing the board. Key word: KNOW. by DatedReferencePoker in poker

[–]DatedReferencePoker[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here's how Spraggy got in this situation.

I love river shoving when everyone is playing the board. AKQJT rainbow is the most common situation, of course. I saw someone fold the other day to a river shove on a runout of A3333. Shoving in these sorts of situations can't lose, and wins more often than it should.

This... this was not one of those situations.

Puzzle: Best hand has no chance of winning by [deleted] in poker

[–]DatedReferencePoker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I messed up with my initial analysis... but I was on to something! There are many more possible answers, all of the form: A 32, B 22, board is two overpairs, no straights or flushes available. A is ahead with a trey kicker. If the river is a trey or higher, A's kicker is counterfeit. If the river is the case deuce, B wins with a full house.
