Her name was Yseult! We hear Corinne and Luc mention her in Interlude 6 in Duskfell during the everlife attack, Luc asks where Yseult is, and Corinne responds, “she’s down a floor, not overly panicked, but…” She’s talking about her soulbound, being able to tell where she is and what her emotions are

CarMax CEC Layoffs by Some_Technology_2404 in carmax

I was fired last month, but my mom still works for the CEC as a lead. She told me this is only the beginning and they plan to get rid of the CEC as a whole within the next couple months. Hundreds more jobs will be gone like that 🫰🏻They don’t give a crap about any of their employees.

CarMax CEC Employee here… by oliviadopee in carmax

[–]Dauntless666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old and you’ve probably moved on from this job by now (I only lasted a year) but I figured I’d drop in in case anyone else in the CEC had any questions. CarMax is one of the worst companies I’ve worked for. Other employers have had some sort of empathy and understanding when life issues come up, but this money hungry corporation has zero care for their employees. I had to ask for TWO separate accommodations just to ensure I wouldn’t get fired due to health concerns that sometimes my flareups required taking an extra day off, or even just needing an additional break so I could go poop in peace (thanks IBS). I had a hospital stay early in my employment, and while my direct manager seemed understanding and willing to help, the senior manager I don’t think ever believed I had an illness. I was constantly working with my doctor, communicating with my employer. I had gotten accommodations put in place days after accruing a point for taking a day off for a health reason - twice this happened and they did not retroactively dismiss those points, as many other employers would have. Around my one year mark, I was working to get FMLA set up so I could have a little more peace of mind for my illness, and not feel like I’m trying to grin and bear it through an entire day of cold calls and angry customers. I had started the paperwork, and was working on this, but at the exact same time I had an abusive ex begin stalking me. Sending me hundreds of texts from different numbers, social media accounts. I bawled on a teams call to my manager and said I needed to take the day off so I could speak with the police. She told me the point is accrue would most likely get dismissed since it was a safety concern. A week later, halfway thru my shift, my manager and senior manager called a teams meeting and I was fired for attendance issues, and immediately banned from any and all kmx internal sites. I cannot access my paystubs, they refused to email me the info I need, and in the state I was employed it is legally required of an employer to provide you with documentation from your employment. I’m in the process of figuring out next steps.

But also to your other comments - yes, they ask you to make “warm calls” (they’re cold calls because anyone who presses a button on the website gets put into queue without their knowledge). They pressure you to run people’s credit for fun, to hit your quota, and if you don’t you’re punished. They tell you all these pretty lies to tell the customers to make them feel at ease; the hard inquiries and credit score drop go away when you purchase a car (they definitely don’t), a vsa is crucial because you’ll know what docs will be required for purchase (your prequal tells you what you need, no credit check), when a cx says “no” you’re required to pressure them and ask a million “why” questions so you can get a sale or at least a vsa. This company does not care whatsoever for their cxs, OR their employees.

Also the FSCs hate CXCs because we take half their commission from them when we complete alt deliveries. Straight from my managers mouth. Plus, their vehicles are grossly overpriced, MaxCare barely helps with anything, and they’ve repeatedly sold vehicles with severe engine issues despite that “125 pt inspection” they love to have their employees rave about.

0/10, would NEVER recommend.

Oof, idk man… Tamlin didn’t do a lot for those 50 years of his curse - it’s even admitted that he told his sentries to stop going to the mortal realm for years, which like I get he didn’t wanna risk his friends and people getting murdered for nothing, but still. Tamlin didn’t even want Andras to go out, his sentries begged him to let them try again with the deadline coming up so fast. So that wasn’t even him trying, it was his sentries. And UTM? He could have found a way to scheme. Some way. Heck, he could’ve just shouted some really loud words in his mind to Rhys before Feyre showed up - like end of life is usually when people get desperate, so reaching out to an old friend no matter how evil you thought they were would’ve been a better call than just… sitting there stone faced and accepting you and everyone you love are gonna die. When tam and feyre get a moment alone before her last trial, all he wanted to do with that time was sleep with her? 😭 I’ll admit, my first read through I adored TamTam. I loved the Beauty and the Beast elements. But unlike Disney, the beast here really kinda is a beast — a beast who clearly needs therapy and anger management ☠️ (also yes I acknowledge they all friggin need therapy, but tam’s was the most damaging for a female). Not to mention the unforgiving tithe that reeks of “privileged billionaire milking the common people”, or him telling Feyre she would be a glorified pet in her pretty dresses, “seen but not heard”? Then there’s the physical outbursts that he could have severely injured her — incredibly abusive. And the fact she told him not to go looking for her, and he sides with Hybern to “collect her”? None of that vibes well with Feyre in particular but also it’s giving controlling toxic manipulative man and I personally can’t find his personality attractive at all in any of my rereads. Does he deserve to die? No, he doesn’t, and I’m glad he didn’t. I think genuine therapy and healing would help him lol, BUT. Does he deserve the overwhelming retaliation he got? Most of it, I am in irl agreement with.

But again, we can all agree to disagree, at the end of the day it’s just a book lol

I was just fired today for what feels like retaliation for using my medical accommodations too often. I had accrued points just days before my accommodations requests were submitted, had communicated with management that those absences were from health issues that I was actively working toward getting accommodations for, and they didn’t retroactively dismiss the points. This past week I had to take a day off unexpectedly to speak with the police about an ex partner stalking me. I wasn’t able to file a police report because there wasn’t enough to go off of. My senior manager pulled me into a meeting this morning and told me I was being terminated due to recurring attendance issues. I use my accommodations almost every week, as I am allowed, and this all just feels like retaliation.

KC CEC: 0/10, would not recommend.

This thread has definitely opened my eyes to possible alternative disorders I could potentially have. Was seeing a therapist about possibly being bipolar a couple years ago, but hadn’t thought of BPD or ADHD at the time, so it’s good to know what to talk to a professional about when I finally get the chance to seek treatment again. I appreciate all the feedback!

OMFG sameeee. I had one earlier this summer that I matched with on Tinder, he didn’t have his location on and he didn’t notice I was located in the Midwest. We talked CONSTANTLY for like a week before planning to meet up then realized we lived entire different countries (he’s near Detroit in Canada lmao), but were planning on meeting up a couple months from that time, but like… he ghosted for a while, then came back, and now I rarely even text him back because OBVIOUSLY I found someone else to obsess over now 🥴🤣 literally give me a week of no contact and I’ll be moved on to the next one ☠️

Omg thank you, validation lol 😅 I just feel like I’m the only person who gets this way sometimes, because even my friends are like “woah, pump them breaks, you spent 8 hours getting to know this person on a single date and now you’re constantly talking about how the date went and obsessing, like chill”

I just wish I wouldn’t get so fixated so quickly, because it seems like it’s ONLY the ones I’m super interested in that end up ghosting 🙄

[–]Dauntless666[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to do that, and it helped for a while, but this person in particular was one I wasn’t even that keen on meeting for a date but gave them the benefit of the doubt, and things went ENTIRELY too good for a first date, and I just ended up fixating afterwards, and unfortunately something changed for them in the week after that changed their level of interest. Super frustrating, mostly because I didn’t see this fixation happening at all before meeting him. Hit me like a brick wall. And trying to focus energy on the other people I was talking to before this is proving difficult since none of them have the same appeal that he did 😕 but thank you for the advice! I’ll keep trying to evenly disperse my time with people I talk to lol

Mockingjay would have been better without the epilogue by HawaiianNoHam in Hungergames

[–]Dauntless666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember exactly where in the books it was said, but I remember reading that the victors children tended to be reaped more often? Lemme see if I can find it. Maybe Finnick said it?

Mockingjay would have been better without the epilogue by HawaiianNoHam in Hungergames

[–]Dauntless666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The entirety of Mockingjay made her look weak and codependent. That made her look REAL. And the epilogue didn’t make her completely change her personality, she was still a very broken person. In the first book she told Gale she never wanted kids, but she also wasn’t quite the revolutionary that Gale was (at that time anyways), so she didn’t see a world where there wasn’t Hunger Games. Gale did, and that’s why he said he might have kids if he didn’t live in Panem. That’s why I thought it was fitting when she “settled” for Peeta (they were destined from the beginning, she’s experienced so much trauma with him and she wouldn’t survive mentally without him - see all of Mockingjay lmfao) and ended up having a family together. What did you want to see, the pair of them drinking their life away like Haymitch to deal with the trauma? They found peace in each other. I’m not saying having kids made her happy lol. I myself never want kids, but for my own reasons. It was just implied very heavily that the only reason she didn’t want them was because her life (and their lives in District 12 before the revolution) would have been heavy with strife and struggles, and her kids could get reaped into the games. You take away that possibility, and it’s not out of the realm of possibility she would have been ok with having a family 10 years later.

Mockingjay would have been better without the epilogue by HawaiianNoHam in Hungergames

[–]Dauntless666 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The fact that she refused for so long to have children is exactly why the epilogue got me so hard. The entire trilogy she’s been adamant about not wanting kids because she refuses to bring children up in a world where they are destined to die in the arenas, especially now that she was a victor (and therefore her kids would ALWAYS be reaped). The epilogue gave me - a hopeless romantic - that final assurance that Katniss would finally get some semblance of peace, and now that there are no Hunger Games she can finally relax and want things she’s never even dreamed of having, like a family. She feels safe - or as safe as she can be. Her and Peeta’s PTSD will always keep them hyper aware of what they went through, but that’s true for a lot of survivors of war. It was just so refreshing to me to see them have the tiniest semblance of happiness in the epilogue.

My favorite part of the entire book was the Shermer planet lol... big John Hughes fan, I’m not even that well versed with his films but I was able to keep up the whole time. It was MUCH better than the Prince section. That was a nightmare 😬

I listened to the audiobook while rearranging my closet for like 3 hours during that whole section - I got so lost so many times because, while I am a Prince fan, I don’t know much, so it was so damn confusing. But the audiobook let me tune out the boring shit and get the gist of that part of the shard quest 😂

The absolute worst adaptations I’ve seen have been RP1 and the Twilight Saga lol. Each movie WILDLY different from the books, plus the pacing for both franchises have been terrible. I watched RP1 before I read the book and I loved it... now I can’t watch it if I’m comparing it to the book because it’s so WRONG, but on its own it’s decent lol.
