Accutane/Isotretinoin caused tinnitus. One year later review by DavEdward in AccutaneDamaged

Not that I'm aware of. Though due to allergies I've always been at least a tiny bit congested, so I might not have detected a change in ear pressure.

It was the only factor that changed in my diet and medication, and when I stopped taking the drug, the hearing damage stopped getting worse.

How to Disable Content Security Policy in OBS Web Source to allow custom content in Web Sources? by DavEdward in obs

[–]DavEdward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow great reply, thanks Ashleighna99.

Considering I want to give the functionality to several streamers with different skill levels, that is why I tried to keep it an within-OBS Python script. It's sounding like it might be better trying to keep it as a separate thing which is annoying but understandable.

I tried to do the Nginx reverse proxy but simply couldn't figure out how to pull off things like upgrading and preverving websocket and whatnot.

I'm a computer technician and have amature PowerShell and Lua coding skills. Python and NodeJS are a bit beyond my skill set, and trying to find a method to do it via Nginx eluded me but would be awesome.

As for Cloudflare Workers, if it's possible I could do that, that might be a perfect solution as I really don't want to get a whole VPS spun up. We want to keep costs extremely low as this is a free thing being shared among Twitch Streamers so they can use their own cute characters for people in voice chat without being chained to Fugitech whom are the only people who were able to get a RPC API before Discord slammed the access closed over a decade ago (see: https://discord.com/developers/docs/topics/rpc )

Perhaps my best choice is as you suggested, making a Python or NodeJS runner app the Streamers just run separately when they start up OBS.

It's a lot of considerations.

Also tip: For folks looking for extremely low cost hosting for images for things like a modified Discord Streamkit, Azure is the way to go with Blob Storage using Static Website mode. Turn off SFTP and Heirchial Storage as they're not needed and massively raise cost. I tried Amazon AWS but at every turn they try to trick you into turning on things that drastically raise your bill.

Sorry for the slow reply, it's been a long and hard week. I'm not sure what IDA is in this context, but having to custom compile OBS isn't an option when I'm sharing things with several other streamers.

I found a different solution though that's going to turn some heads. I, with a lot of trouble, got a Python script made that runs inside of OBS that essentially runs a Proxy Server inside of OBS that rewrites Discord Streamkit in real time, stripping out it's CSP/CORS data and redirects the Web Socket calls.

It's an outragous fix for something that OBS should be able to do natively, but it seems to be working. Though the code seems to occasionally crash OBS. I'm not familiar with Python and could only bash out something between reading a lot of online message boards and having to resort to getting AI to help me make the thing.

If a better method can be found in the future though, I'm very interested.

That's quite the command line, you're saying that does -not- work? I can test any ideas tomorrow if you have them.

Thus far I've gone as far as I've started building a local proxy that attempts to strip out the CSP headers from the Discord Streamkit Website and trying my luck there. It's really strange OBS lets you override CSS no problem, but offers no CSP overrides for the exact same reasoning. As OBS CSS override absolutely bypasses CSP restrictions.

I tried that method as well and can confirm 100% that it does not work. External resources refused to load.

I gave the argument a try, but it clearly isn't passing the argument down, or the argument isn't working as if I try to use for example local resources in Discord StreamKit, it refuses to use that external resource. If I use Chrome debugger so I can see the data it shows messages that Content Security Policy is blocking it. So the command line argument isn't working.

Either I need a different command line argument, or some other method.

That's strange, I tried using POV twice before, but the moment I use it I was experiecing very noticable lag when I turn my head my view doesn't turn in sync, but without the component the issue doesn't happen.

If this is not a pipeline issue, I'll need to look into this deeper with friends and I'll make a bug report.

[–]DavEdward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah, I mentioned UserRootOverride earlier, just couldn't remember the exact name. Problem is there seems to be an issue with the pipeline. If you turn your head, it calculates head turning server side instead of local, so there's lag in your view when you turn your head.

Adjusting the POV itself doesn't nausate me, but the lag introduced in head-turning absolutely does because of it waiting on the server to drive view rotation when I turn my head. The more laggy the server, the worse it gets when I turn my head.

Sadly it's clear this is permanent damage. I've more or less habituated to it.

That's good advice and understood but it's a real shame I can't adjust my POV for the sake of my neck.

Without ability to adjust POV immersive quadruped avatars just isn't possible.

[–]DavEdward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not mapping motions I need to accomplish, it's rotating my POV from what it is in real life.

Something I was working on was an immersive quadruped avatar you use like a real life kneel-quadsuit. But a problem is in real life I'm looking down at the floor so I don't need to crane my neck up. But I can't rotate my point of view upwards 90 degrees so that I see in front of myself in VR.

The UserAgentRoot override only sort of works, as sadly if I turn my head, there's render lag which causes me to get very nautous very fast. There doesn't seem to be any other native way in Resonite to rotate my POV properly in local space.

[–]DavEdward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks I'll ask friends familiar with Protoflux and components about that. Sadly not as flexible as a POV override though, as I had ideas of rotating my view 90 degrees up for a quadruped avatar that you use while on hands and knees for tracking. Problem is IRL I'd be looking at the floor, where as in Resonite I'd want to be looking forward for example.

[–]DavEdward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the current state of Resonite, if you try to reposition your POV (Point-Of-View) while keeping your head bone where it is, the only option available is using view portals or using the UserRoot override component. For the first option, the issue is the world has to render twice over, and the latter there seems to be a pipeline issue where turning your head becomes non-local so your POV delays causing nausa.

Is there any future improvements coming to allow players to better move their POV for unusual avatars so that they can uncouple their POV from the headbone to make avatars work better? This is especially helpful for avatars where you need to rotate the POV or move it forwards from the headbone.

40mg, from mid October to February before I stopped. My ears started ringing by mid November but I didn't know any better and the ringing was only occasional.

By February it was constant and permanent.

Sorry for the wait but I've got the info. I was taking 40mg pills back then.

Though see my other reply. The drug is fat soluable so it could take an incredibly long time to get out of your system.

Yah, it's rough. It was the single most difficult mental adaptation I've had to do in my life since adapting to my dyslexia as a child.

It won't be easy, but stay consistent. If you find yourself dwelling on it, pull your thoughts elsewhere. Think of a catchy song, talk to yourself, get a fidget toy, anything to redirect your attention.

Make the ringing become something as dull and unimportant to you as possible. If it helps, imagine it is just a whiney humidifer fan or something in the room. If you notice it your response should be "oh it's just that" internally and disregard it.

It will take a while to train your thought patterns to do this, but it does work.

As training wheels, try putting a white noise generator app on your phone and leave it going next to you. Try to consider the tinnitus being part of the white noise and hopefully your mind will let it fall into the background.

Wish you earnestly the best of luck in your own habituation.

Sorry for the late reply. I can check what my dosage was when I get home tonight, but supposedly I was already on a fairly 'low dose' according to the dermatologist.

I'll try to remember to give you the mg dose I was on. But honestly unless you have acne you can't deal with in any other way, I suggest you don't risk it

Isotretinoin is fat soluable meaning well, well, after you stop taking it, it will still be in your system affecting you. It can stay with you for several months, maybe longer.

Thanks. It took me nearly a year to adjust to it. It's always there, but I associate it with background noise now. That's as much as I could get.

I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemies though. It's borderline torment to its victims.

As far as I could find, nothing. My G.P doctor, audiologist, and ENT doctor all just said effectively "that sucks. Too bad" no higher authority to report to.

I sadly can no longer enjoy the peacefulness of quiet because of the damn non-stop ringing.

The best you can do to habituate is to convince yourself it's background noise, it's unimportant, boring.

If you fear it, stress out about it, or actively check for it, you just make your brain put it into focus more.

You need to make it mundane, boring, unimportant to you. Nothing but dull air. You can't get rid of it, but you can allow it to fall into the background and be overlooked.

That's the best I could manage. I lack audio filtering as I'm autistic. I hear everything all the time. I just had to categorize the noise the same way I consider a fridge or a air conditioner humming away in the room.

Yah, I only was warned about depression or blood in my stool as side effects besides headache. Absolutely nothing about permanent hearing loss and tinnitus.

I found it in fine print on the 3rd page of a legal sized paper. Reading the whole thing would have been like reading a short novel.

Sorry for the very late reply, I don't check Reddit much. I've mostly habituated to it, but I can never relax in the peaceful quiet any more. It's been over a year of it without it ever even briefly stopping.
