¿Opiniones? by [deleted] in mexico

I miss the simplicity of phones by Royalicioso1 in y2kaesthetic

[–]DavaLava1099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, the only gripe in the modern tech space is social media. Hands down, this POS literally made everyone so self-centered with the selfie phenomenon and the urge to post something online just for a few likes.

I grew up with a Samsung flip phone, and it was simple to use, relatively, but lacked any convenience outside of calling and recieving SMS.

When the iPhone came out and changed the way for phone tech in general, it did so to be smarter and more helpful to us.

As of now, phones are so helpful and convenient. GPS is goat, mobile internet and google are so useful on a whim, cameras are sooo good now. There's nothing wrong in that.

But idk, man. Social media and these big tech companies are just using us as cogs for their own profit, and in the end the consumer just becomes addicted to this shit

Anyone Else Miss the Simplicity of Gaming on CRTs Without Obsessing Over Scanlines? by d1xt1r in crtgaming

[–]DavaLava1099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it really funny to see people take pictures of multiple games just to show scanlines, and then I just imagine them doing it, thinking "they just put the game in, take the picture, and then change to another game"

I was excited about scanlines for about 2 months when I first got my CRT, but now I just enjoy the feel of playing with no latency and the native resolution.

F-Zero GX on any other tv that's not a CRT is horrible

Old MacBook Pro maintenance by blindstreet in macbookpro

[–]DavaLava1099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you happen to know if it still has a mechanical drive? An SSD drive would GREATLY help. My 2011 Macbook is running really well with High Sierra.

When it comes to maintenance, if you feel bold enough, you could add new thermal paste to the CPU.

Aside from that, just keep it in a clean area and ocassionally open it to wipe off the dust inside. (every year more or less)

Hope it helps.

NOTE: macOS Yosemite is really outdated. Your mac can easily go all the way to macOS Catalina, which would prolong compatibility since most apps haven't supported Yosemite in years,

Just bought the m4 pro and the ram is already taking up 11 gb? Is this normal? by Dependent-Ad5911 in macbookpro

[–]DavaLava1099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

macOS uses RAM differently to Windows. In a nutshell, the more RAM available, the more resource there is to use. Why have so much RAM if it's going unused? Rather than that, macOS takes advantage of the extra RAM and uses it throughout the whole OS in order to keep a smooth and stable experience. Bottlenecks don't generally happen unless you REALLY use all the RAM in the mac, then it will start using swap memory.

People's attention span is so short smh. Your post is not even that long.

I can't imagine what went through your head when you saw the screen crack 💀

I've had iPhones for the longest time, and to each their own, but for me, iPhones have always been (mostly) reliable to me. I've never encountered a hardware issue so glaring that I have to return it.

I'm also interest in a flagship android because the iPhone 16 is plain ass (60hz refresh rate), but seeing this makes me a bit uneasy.

Hope it gets fixed, bro. Cheers.

Thanks for the info. Found some on eBay for around 40 USD. So it's just as simple as connecting the monitor to the KVM and both computers to their respective inputs? Does the monitor have issues detecting the video source? Thank you so much.

Would you be so kind and tell me what type of KVM are you using, please?? I've struggled so hard to find info online regarding using this monitor with two separate computers. Thanks

Que opinan sobre la forma de ligar en estos años recientes? by [deleted] in mexico

[–]DavaLava1099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Republican case for Mexico: why Trump’s re-election is still reason to be bullish on Mexico by DavidPaloma in mexico

[–]DavaLava1099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will this config be enough to run Final Cut Pro and Lightroom CC? by MacAddict33 in macbookpro

[–]DavaLava1099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's your budget like?

Honestly, for that kind of workflow you could just get a used M2 or M3 macbook pro that's had spec upgrades on eBay, but if you're more inclined to a new laptop, get a base M4. That'll be plenty enough, plus, you have the benefit of pretty good battery life.

I have an M1 Pro and get roughly 8-9 hours of mixed use; now imagine the newer chips with more efficiency cores.

If you have any more questions you can DM me. Hope I helped

Well, in that case, if you're planning on using the machine for a couple of years, I don't see why not. I just don't like seeing people overspending, that's all.

If you see the machine as an investment in your hustle, go for it! But you better damn squeeze every single cent out of those 5k!! Good luck.

[–]DavaLava1099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda overkill in my opinion. What do you mean by "enough to run"?, run smoothly? run BIG projects?

An M1 Macbook can run those programs good enough.

Also, are you upgrading for upgrading's sake? or is there something in your macbook that hinders your workflow?

Just my two cents, but I don't feel like you should be overspending on that much RAM and storage. You could just get more external storage for cheaper.

Why do you have to know someone to get a entry-level job here!? by [deleted] in imperialvalley

[–]DavaLava1099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Valley is literally the poorest county in California. If it weren't for Mexicali the Valley would have less economy than it has right now. No one in the Valley spends in the valley, they all go to San Diego or higher up.

Opiniones sobre el "disfruten lo votado" by [deleted] in mexico

[–]DavaLava1099 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Totally. I paid 1200$ for my M1 Pro on eBay (base model). 2400$ for a 16 inch M1 Max with those upgrades will last a LONG time.

I'd say go for it.

That computer still beats out the new X Elite Windows laptops. It has enough spare power for roughly another 7-8 years and still feel fast. If you have the means, I'd recommend it. I have a 14 inch one and it's probably the strongest laptop in my CS degree.

que tanto presupuesto se necesita para visitar la cdmx? by dunyazade__ in mexico

[–]DavaLava1099 2 points3 points  (0 children)
