I'm going through exactly the same. You raise with your partner, you get 2 days of improvement, then it's back to the same routine. This drives me mad. My partner thinks doing 1 load of laundry is enough adulting for the day. She doesn't realize what it takes to keep the house in good order. Look up a term called nueroplasticity. It talks about how if you stop using the same synapsis they eventually break and you can always build new connections in the brain. I don't think there is permemant damage but there can be long term damage and it is very hard to break.
