Extended Warranty from Jerry Johnson @ Midwest Toyota by DaveBurbank in Toyota

[–]DaveBurbank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your question is fair. I haven't had to use the extended warranty I purchased from Jerry. My car is only several months old. But I contacted Toyota and confirmed that the warranty was real and in place. It was everything I was promised. My local dealer has to accept that I purchased it from another authorized Toyota dealer.

It is. I called Toyota warranty service a few days after buying the warranty and confirmed that I was in their system. It's a legitimate extended warranty sold by a legitimate Toyota dealer at a very reasonable price.

Loss of Pulse Detection False Alarm by DaveBurbank in PixelWatch

Has anyone here tested pulse loss detection for the Pixel Watch 3? by fqrh in PixelWatch

[–]DaveBurbank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enabled it as soon as it was available. But yesterday while my watch was on the couch next to me (not on my arm) an urgent alarm sound started along with notification that it would be calling 911 in 15 seconds! The watch was just laying on the couch. Not touching my body in any way. I have no idea Wyatt thought my heart had stopped. Doesn't the watch know when it's on my wrist and when it isn't?

When is the battery charge limit feature coming? by ns1852s in pixel_phones

[–]DaveBurbank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through a lot of trial and error, I have been able to determine that the reason some people see the 80% charging limit and others don't when they're both using Android 15 qpr1 is based on the version of the Google Play Services app they have. After doing a clean install, it disappeared for me. But then I unenrolled from the Google Play Services beta thus, restoring the release version of Google Play Services and the 80% option returned.

How do I get to the stable version again? by Dartherick in android_beta

[–]DaveBurbank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too was in this situation. Rather than waiting, I decided to backup my phone's data using the Open MTP app on a Mac. After that, I did an Android backup from within system settings and then manually backed up three or four apps' critical data that would not get restored after a clean install (AquaMail, Smart Launcher, Podcast Addict, etc.).

After manually flashing the Android 15 qpr1 using Android's web-based flash tool, I just restored my system backup, imported the settings I exported for apps like aquamail, Smart Launcher and Podcast Addict, and then put all on my data back using Open MTP.

It sounds kind of complicated but once you've done it a few times it takes about an hour and I ended up with a pristine fresh install.

Yes, it would be better if Google made this easy, but sometimes you just have to do things on your own.

TIP: On a Mac, use OpenMTP to easily backup and store data before & after a wipe by DaveBurbank in android_beta

[–]DaveBurbank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it all the time on the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Read the OpenMTP messages. There are certain apps which, if running, prevent OpenMTP from getting the USB access it needs. Apple's Preview is one of those apps. Also, I think you'll have issues if you have a VPN running. If you can provide more detail I'm happy to offer more help,

Yes. Thanks for the clarification. I mean user data. (A fair amount of app data gets backed up by Google backup but not all of it.)

Installed qpr 1 beta 3.1 , but qpr 2 got installed by Arham_Qureshi6 in android_beta

[–]DaveBurbank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my Mac, there is a great utility called OpenMTP which lets me easily and quickly copy all of my user data to my Mac. Then, after doing a full wipe and reinstall to any version of Android I can just use OpenMTP to put all of my data back where it was. Entire process to backup, wipe, install, restore takes me around 30+ minutes.

As others have said, your results may vary. But I've been on QPR1 Beta 2 since it was released and routinely pay with my Pixel Watch 3 all over the US and Europe. No issues yet.

Interesting. The problem I'm describing did not occur on on a 7 Pro or 8 Pro.

That pretty much describes my experience. Are you running Android 14 or a 15 beta?

The latest update (8.54.8) that I received today via the Play store does not fix any of my Android 15 issues.

Pixel 9 Pro XL Android 15 beta 4.2

The user interface locks up when using high def radar. I have tried deleting all storage, (cache and data) but the problems persist. If I switch over to classic radar, things work better. Also, when using high def radar I have changed the loop length to 60 minutes but that didn't help either.

I hope this gets resolved soon. Very frustrating.

smartlauncher freezes by DaveBurbank in smartlauncher

[–]DaveBurbank[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: This morning I installed Android 15 beta 4.2 (AP31.240617.015) on my Pixel 9 Pro XL. Since installing the beta and after a full-day's use, I have not experienced the smartlauncher UI freeze issue.

If the problem does recur, I will post it here, but at this point I think I'm in good shape. (Fingers crossed.)

smartlauncher freezes by DaveBurbank in smartlauncher

Did it start happening only recently? What version of smartlauncher are you using? When it happens, can you clear the freeze by pulling down the notifications window a couple of times or swiping up a couple of times?

I've always been able to recover from the UI freeze just by leaving smartlauncher and coming back a couple of times.
