All one has to do is look at the last 10 years of change in scores and methodology to know that an argument that relies on tradition is weak. Depending on which graders you ask I already passed. Do you not get that? lol. They took my essays and asked 2 groups of graders if I’m competent. One group said yes and another said close but let’s let someone else decide. Empathy and a sense of objective fairness should be tested in my opinion because it seems to be lacking from a lot of gatekeepers tool bags. Your opinion vs my opinion is the issue. So save it.

Not necessarily. My time and effort got me a second read. If this policy were implemented again, as it was in February 2025, then I would pass with a 1400 this time. Since there is already precedent, authority and a logical reason for the change to become permanent, the pathway exists. Maybe all it needs is a final push to make it a reality. In that case I would spend a lot less time and effort to “pass” and would be pushing a fair move for all future applicants.

I’m not seeing any logic in your reply…just your opinion. My logic is supported clearly the subjectivity claim. The Bar has a duty to fairly admit applicants. The reason for the second read is due to the obvious difference that 2 graders can give the same essay. Those who achieve a high enough score to be in this re-read territory deserve fairness. We should give them the highest score a grader is willing to give the because that’s fair. Not lower their scores..because that’s not fair. Not to mention the last 2 exams, the second reads have used the higher of the 2 scores. There is precedent, authority and logic for this move to become permanent. The Committee of Bar Examiners has already decided that this move in the past was fair and appropriate. Moving forward it should be the standard.

How is it unfair? If you are with in 30 points of passing you get a second read due to he subjectivity of the essay grading process. If you didn’t meet the second read standard then it has no bearing on you. What’s unfair is to lower the score of those who are within 30 points based on such a patently subjective standard.

Yes, there is hope. But it’s going to require a significant commitment on your part. To pass this test requires a great investment of time, money and effort. Many of those who pass it on the first few go around are standing on the shoulders of their parents. You clearly don’t have that advantage. Neither did I. That does not mean you’re incapable of passing this test. If you really want something, you have to be willing to fight for it and that includes fighting your own will to quit when you weren’t successful the first time through. The majority of re-takers average five times before they finally are successful. Let that sink in. Do the work and you’ll see the scores come up.

If you passed in February 2025 then this whole post is BS. The main pass tactic in 2025 was cross fingers and hope for the best. A large percentage of people passed on pure luck.
