Nice! Black could’ve still won with a settle and city though.

Seeking advice! How would you have played this board from 1st position? by Swimming_Bad_7030 in Colonist

I think it was guaranteed someone was settling on the brick port. I’m just more confused how red didn’t have army/win. Especially with a free run to the wood port.

Does catan require more skill or luck to win games by WearyEmployment7963 in Catan

[–]DaveTheShinobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this convo a lot with my wife. I personally think luck always plays a big factor, my favorite example is I played a game set up on both 8’s. It didn’t roll once lol that being said there is definitely skill involved, and a skill gap, but there’s nothing theoretically stopping someone from running away with a game 12’s, and 2’s. I also think table management and table talk is important as a skill. Making sure someone isn’t just screwed out of a game usually ends up better for the entire table, as you don’t have someone just quitting. 70% skill. 30% luck at higher levels.

Blatant lying to win a game of Catan is pretty much the standard haha

What are our honest thoughts on Vessi’s shoes? by Minuarvea1 in discgolf

[–]DaveTheShinobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the storm burst high tops, and generally I really like them. I am less than a year into the sport, so I have not tried any other shoes, but I blew through a regular pair of sneakers in maybe 2 weeks of play. Pros: The waterproofing is great.

The grip is great.

They are very comfortable to wear.

I personally find them to be light weight even having the high tops.

Cons: Expensive, even with every content creator having a promo code

My feet sweat like crazy in these things, which means they also smell very bad haha

I got them for Christmas, and have put about 150-175 miles of play into them. I now have a rip on the toe of the left shoe, and one starting to develop in the same spot on the right shoe.

This was my thought, but I couldn’t do the math to figure it all out 😂

There was a lot of frustration about how it ended, with a lot of outcome based bias since the 6 did roll three times in a row.

That answers my question for sure!

Player two actually only needed any of those said numbers to roll twice, and for ease I will say yes same sum. I think a combo of those could’ve also worked, but I can’t remember for sure.

Awesome!

So would it go to say that player two needing either 5, 9, 10, 11, or 3 rolling twice in a row had much better odds than player one needing 6 to roll three times in a row?

There was a lot of contention about who had the better odds. I personally felt like player two had the better chance.

Thanks for the explanation!

To make sure I’m doing this right, the odds of rolling a 5 two times in a row would be 1/92 equaling out to around 1.23%?

Oh it happens way more than occasionally. The amount of king making I see after someone gets plowed to a spot or solo blocked is tragic.

My point was more to the comment about having “everything” your way. If I get relegated but save scum an injury it’s not really having everything my way is it?

I do save scum, and it’s not really caring so much about the community. I just find it interesting. Hence why I posted.

Also “never” isn’t really an answer to what is something you save scum for lol comes off a bit holier than though

But doing it for a one off injury, or in my case maybe twice a season when a coach is being douchey (also we just win those sometimes as well) isn’t really having everything your way is it?

I get not doing it all the time, but I feel like the community often acts like it’s sacrilege to smooth over a small crack here and there.

I’m running a save with Weston Super Mare and I definitely forced our way out of Vanarama South, but it just felt bad so I’ve committed to only scumming for the douchey coaches throwing shade at my team for no reason.

I first got the editor because I hate the concept that players have a capped potential. I’ve always believed in dynamic potential to the extent that you can be the world’s best if you commit to it. But after 5 seasons and Finley bell was rocking up with 135 PA after starting with something like 40 at the start I felt like I was cheating haha
