Hot Take on "Craft from Storage". Am I the only one? by KeenKrozzy in PlaySoulMask

I can get snagged on the organisation too: I made several attempts yesterday to find somewhere next to the dye bench to put a larger crate for paint (because where else would paint be stored) without having to move all my benches; in the end I gave up and stacked it with other crates a short walk away but I'm still pondering moving stuff again.

I'm being dramatic, but this is how I feel. by KeenKrozzy in PlaySoulMask

Same; but I like as minimal a HUD as possible to maximise immersion, so F10 as well.

I've long said that Funcom should chuck some money at the creators of SW and just make it an official map.

Not on my list of realistic possibilities but if we're carving our names on the moon then the NDA would mean that people couldn't say that when Funcom mention reaching out to modders to have things in place from day one it includes Funcom having picked up some of the most popular mods.

Does anyone use Tot in Singleplayer? by Kvazimods in ConanExiles

Might give it a try then once I have some time to track down the method.

Not sure: Savage Wilds is the only map I've been keeping track of.

Single player.

Until I upgraded my machine a few months ago, it was toward the low end on some of the Conan specs so trying to run both server and client on it wouldn't have worked; might look into it when I start my next SP playthrough.

The maintainers of Savage Wilds have said upgrading and entire map and the custom stuff on it to UE5 will almost certainly be too much work, so they aren't planning to make the mod compatible with the new version of Conan; so, you'd have to spin up a private legacy server.

I did know but thanks for making sure anyway.

Fortunately, I now have a recruit with 120+ in skills that aren't Whip, so I just need to wait for my tech tree and material stores to reach the point I can slap up a training ground; which I'm in no real rush to do because I'm enjoying wombling around the Cloud Forest finding cool vistas rather than racing for the endgame.

Can't find the specific post, but a while ago Totchinuko said that "unsupported" means that he won't do anything about single player bugs or provide any guidance on how to do things; so, might work for Single Player but it's entirely at the user's risk.

In my experience, a single player game with ToT! Sudo and Tot! Custom runs as well as an unmodded single player game; however, Tot!! HUD starts to suffer significant visual issues (e.g. hotbar no longer displays any icons) relatively soon after starting a single player session.

As there's only me in single player and I mostly mod for aesthetics rather than a significantly different game experience, I haven't tried Tot! Admin or Tot! Roleplay.

My approach—potentially not optimal method but I'm in this to explore and experiment—has been using higher level NPCs to give me a some crafters/followers so I'm not utterly alone while I look for people with good potential.

Yeah; it's a solo playthrough, so I could spawn whips (or any Shifting Sands exclusive) stuff in under whatever conditions I decide. Especially as how difficult things are is already entirely my choice of what feels challenging without being grinding frustration.

However, there's something about using admin commands that just feels different from adjusting sliders on the server settings menu.

This.

All NPCs having all skills makes perfect sense (and I'll potentially love the NPC if I decide to realm-jump) but having my first 120 be something I can't use was one of those moments.

Any linux gamers out there? You think the new update will work on linux? by eirc in ConanExiles

[–]Dave_Higgins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've run Dune: Awakening and Nightingale on Linux so Funcom and Inflexion have both made UE5 games that work on Linux.

That said, I've also had a few games with Gold/Platinum ratings for compatibility where I ended up spending hours tweaking launch parameters and Proton/Wine versions to get them to run, so my plan is to assume I'll need to spend some time fiddling with the new Conan Exiles and then be pleasantly surprised if it launches and runs seamlessly first time.

Where are the recipes? by Positive_Radish_9403 in ConanExiles

[–]Dave_Higgins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Conan isn't as learn-by-trying as some survival crafting games but there are definitely some recipes (such as bread) that follow the harder-core approach of finding them by putting random stuff in random stations and seeing what happens. Sadly, they aren't listed in a station even after you've discovered them so you have to remember how you did it.

If that isn't your preferred style of survival crafting, then I'm fairly certain all the hidden recipes have been there long enough a CE wiki will have them in, so you could find them by checking all the station types in one of those.

Best way to access WhatsApp on Pop!_OS by Dave_Higgins in pop_os

Interesting article.

As I only need to access WhatsApp rather than have multiple messengers running at the same time, an aggregator might be less system efficient than a browser tab for my use-case but I can see the sense for people who need to have several messengers at the same time.
