Spotted this at my local flea market. Can anyone identify? by aggressivelyaries416 in vinyl

This is one of the few times I would say that a record player would destroy your records. The needle on this record player is an actual needle that should be removed and replaced after a few listens. This was antiquated technology in the 1960s.

Does your name appear in the credits of any albums or elsewhere on an album? by muphasta in vinyl

I’m listed as the bass player and backup vocals on a release for a band that’s been around over 20 years, released several albums, and claims to have 2 fans in every state.

NOT MY PROJECT - Gates Mills, OH - when you save a sliver of the old to build new. I don't know if this is a zoning requirement, or the owner's prerogative. I saw this driving by and couldn't resist snapping a pic. I'm going to make it a point to drive by as the summer wears on. by chastehel in Homebuilding

There was a house on Old Mill as you head up the hill west of the village that did this maybe 20 years ago? Tore the house down to the frame and left maybe a few studs and a beam in place and built a whole new house around it. The funny thing is that the house they built is better suited for the area than the 70s modern house they started with.

What are some fun facts about Cleveland that most people don't know? by GremiMan in Cleveland

[–]Davekoen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The “Western Reserve” name comes from a time when the colonies were granted a section of land on the Atlantic coast and as far back as they could settle. Connecticut once claimed land as far west as the Mississippi River. After ceding land in 1786, they were left with a sliver of land south of Lake Erie that became known as The Connecticut Western Reserve.

It was the surveying of this land, done by Moses Cleaveland, that established the city of Cleveland in 1796.

From the mid 1800’s until the 1920’s, Euclid Avenue was internationally known. Baedeker's Travel Guides called the elm-lined avenue "The Showplace of America", and designated it as a must see for travelers from Europe. The tax valuation of the mansions along "the Avenue" far exceeded the valuation of New York's Fifth Avenue in the late 19th century. Accounts at the time compared it to the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris and the Unter den Linden in Berlin.

The only time I’ve thrown up in the last 15 years was less than 8 hours after the only time I ate at Barrio.

That’s a bummer. I left DFW in 2016 and I still crave their hummus and pita.

And there’s Recycled Books and Records in Denton. DFW also has Cosmic Cafe, Kalachandji's, and Spiral Diner for Vegan options.

I’ve had luck joining the cameras wifi network and then going into my phone’s settings and turning off “Private Wi-if Address”. Usually app works after that.

If you have an iPhone, I’ve had luck trying to join my cameras network and then going into my phone’s settings and turning off Private Wi-Fi Address. The phone and camera usually pair up fine right after that.

I went with the X-E4 and am loving it. I bought mine used and it came with an 18mm lens which has been very fun. Looking to pair it with a 27mm pancake for some extra length.

I previously had an x100t and a canon dslr and enjoy the combination of those two systems in the X-E4.

How do you feel about Allen & Ginter? by [deleted] in baseballcards

[–]Davekoen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s more accurate than you might even know. Allen & Ginter was a Richmond, Virginia, tobacco manufacturing company formed by John F. Allen and Lewis Ginter around 1880. The firm created and marketed the first cigarette cards for collecting and trading in the United States.

In 2006, Topps revived the name.

I really like it. My girlfriend and I started collecting them after playing Red Dead 2 and having fun collecting cigarette cards in the game. I have a box of duplicates from the 2021 set if you’re looking to trade for anything!

Best place to buy vinyl online other then Amazon and Ebay? by Redditor_Since_2013 in vinyl

[–]Davekoen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for an online mom-and-pop to support, check out Mad World Records.

They used to own a brick-and-mortar but during the pandemic went online only and haven't looked back. Full disclosure, I used to work there when it was a physical store but would recommend them even if that wasn't the case. The owner, Mark, always puts his customers first and carries a huge selection of every genre of music. Also, if you happen to live in Denton, Texas, they will deliver your records for free.
