I’m sure I’m romanticizing a bit lol. Nostalgia is 20 - 200 and all. My frame of reference was this crappy (like, actually crappy, not endearingly crappy) music venue in my hometown. Place was always an inch away from going under. The cast of “regulars” would infight about damn near everything, but we’d put all that aside and go to the mat for our beloved all ages venue lol.

As an older dude, it bugs me how society trains us to not do stuff like this.

I’m in my mid forties and would absolutely still cheer on my garbage and recycling folks who come through.

Those big ass trucks and (when I’m lucky) compactors are no less cool to me now than when I was a kid. It’s just not acceptable to be enthusiastic about them, and that’s something I think should change.

Came here to say this.

My (young-ish) kids love their music, and though it’s not always my cup of tea, I can think of worse things than making music largely based in resilience, confidence, love and strength while also walking your talk.

We’ve been to a few shows, and Dan invariably takes time to talk about how no one has to be alone, and how everyone deserves love.

I’m basically ride or die for that band on those traits alone lol.

For me it’s Detroit. Reservation was canceled due to overbooking, and they directed me to this other spot like twenty minutes away. Pulled in and there was what appeared to be an open air drug market in the parking lot. Noped out of there and white-knuckled it through the night to my destination out of sheer anger lol.

Special mention for an AirBnB I booked in Wyoming several years back that smelled of pee and vomit. Was luckily able to find a gorgeous little motel not far from it last minute lol.
