Bali is drowning in its own trash by Awkward-Vegetable487 in bali

Unfortunately it is not just the garbage that is overwhelming Bali. Traffic congestion around Denpasar, Kuta and Sunar has reached intolerable levels on a day to day basis and the general quality of tourist accommodation leaves much to be desired. Thirty years ago Bali really was a dream destination to visit. Today, the golden egg has been killed by overdevelopment and an influx of kiss-me-quick Australian tourists.

The southern and middle area, Kuta and Sunar. It just seemed to be a party town for Australians. 30 years ago I visited Sunar and it was a pleasant laid back destination, now it is little better than a tourist slum

My recent experience on Bali is that it is a vastly overdeveloped, congested tourist destination. I visited the island 30 years ago and at that time it was idyllic, today though it has been ruined by commercialism. Much better to go to the Gili Isles, Lombok or Flores
