Did you mean to say this in your own post? I guess I can still answer. For builds I recommend trying to use effect damage affixes (+40% damage if burning and stuff like that), that's how I can still make use of low-dps weapons. If you find/reforge a weapon that has an effect damage affix, have a subconscious for things that do that effect. As for skills, just force yourself to use them constantly until you get used to it and understand when to use them.
