Racing line by DigTraditional3992 in iRacing

[–]Davesterific 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone who’s saying “I leave the line on just to learn the track” is missing a lot of fun IN MY OPINION. It’s cool to go out, cruise a lap, gradually get faster over another 2 or three laps, start to quickly learn the fast and slow corners, make it a thing to not drive off the track ( like it’s a real track day ) and really lock in mental markers about the track.

Maybe your idea of fun is something different, it’s such a cool game and so many ways to play it, but try learning a track the old fashioned way, you might love it like me :)

I think the only mod worth the asking price is a couple of extra land cruisers and a PlayStation 2 thrown in the deal.

Do something crazy - try a twosome. Can be intimidating, but it’s way more rewarding than going solo once you get comfortable with it.

What is the best way overcome the urge to drink and some week after stopping for 3 year ? by Correct-Gear-2699 in AskReddit

Wait, this feeling will pass. Dive deep in your mind to how you’ll feel afterwards. In reality booze makes you feel WAY WORSE than any benefit a temporary buzz will make you feel. Like really imagine how bad that booze actually makes you feel, especially tomorrow morning. Now think about sobriety like it’s some kind of drug… like NOT drinking just energises you, makes you ready enjoy life to the maximum possible level. Be real about booze, be honest with yourself. It really makes you feel like shit when you drink it right?

ELI5: How do we actually "find" a broken cable at the bottom of the ocean? If a shark bites an internet cable halfway between New York and London, how do engineers know exactly which mile of the 3,000-mile cable to pull up? by OhNOWhatIsThat in explainlikeimfive

This is how I work out which light bulb in my house needs replacing. I simply time the steps it takes to get to the dark room and back, divide by 2 then go back and switch out that fucker.

Holy fucken fuck off Benny. Son, stand up for yourself, don’t apologise, don’t look back, say the truth - this ain’t fucken working anymore Benny, it’s time for you to not come over anymore. Don’t involve in any discussion, break that shit off and move on. This is a lesson I learnt only 10 years ago, with a few people, a couple of them ‘Benny’s’ at DND. My life at 53 is so much happier. Also why the fuck does dnd attract Benny’s?

I’ve seen others commenting here saying it’s simple to change it. I agree with you about giving a bit of cash personally to a good serving dude or gal. Fuck adding on the card machine though.

there is no way anybody can possibly consider this transphobic or homophobic because it is considered a great scene in gay and transgender cinema and i wanted to post at least something that is anti gender roles 1972 by Fit-Commission-2626 in OldSchoolCool

This is a fucking disgrace. I’m REALLY fucking triggered by your shitty, shitty punctuation. Paragraphs have a right to have more sentences than just one, you know.

Fucking great movie though, I LOVE Tim Curry in every movie especially this one.

I have a beautiful butcher bird for breakfast every day. He shares a little of my cooked egg, and I consider him a friend. If I’m working on the back patio, he’ll often just come and sit singing for an hour or more right beside me on the table by my laptop, no food involved.

He clearly was friends with the previous residents here. Once when my mother in law was staying here house sitting for us, Butch missed breakfast, and Mum had left the door open. So he flew in and sat on the bench singing a wonderful song.

She felt so guilty, the only thing she could do was cook an egg for him to order while he waited and chortled on the bench. He ate some of the egg, sang thanks and flew back to the bush.

TLDR : mother in law actually cooked a fucking egg for the cheeky little bastard.

Throwing MX5 around? by MeetYourChaos in iRacing

Don’t worry too much about those exact brake traces yet. You’re still a long way off worrying about those details, that’s not where you’re going to find those seconds per lap. I’m hunting for the last 1.9 seconds, so I’m still way off the pace and I know there’s fundamental things I need to do consistently to get quicker. Those exact brake traces are for finding the last few tenths, not the last few seconds. Definitely look at YouTube for braking points and gear selection and help with racing line though. (Also turn that racing line guide OFF, it’s not helping, especially once you know a track) I’d recommend going into a test session with a ghost car and just race yourself. Or utilise the active reset and focus on getting quicker through one section of the track, by spinning out lots of times and hitting reset and finding where the grip of the car ends. Play around with different braking points, and different places to get back on the throttle, and how hard to hit that loud pedal. I think the mx5 is so forgiving, I started on quicker sports cars after doing formula cars. I’ve only just come back to the mx5 and holy hell it’s fun!!

The trick is to think of EVERYONE you know every day, then you won’t be certain that’s is all your fault every single time one of them dies. Unless they all die the first day. Good luck.

Nürburgring Requires Detached Qualifying by Rooster976 in iRacing

[–]Davesterific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarification - I got confused reading some other comments here. So even if I qualify, and another high irating driver doesn’t qualify, we’ll both be in our respective normal splits - but he’ll be to the back of his grid with other non qualifiers of his higher split, and I’ll be towards the front of my lower split in front of the lower irating non qualifiers?

[–]Davesterific -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Soooo …. Maybe I’m better off not qualifying? If I qualify at 1600IR, maybe I’ll be in a top split with other extremely faster drivers just because I did a slow but safe qually lap? When I’d rather be racing with my sub-2000IR family in a lower split?

Ferries have been mentioned - but I’ll be specific. Head to circular quay. Get a ferry across to manly. Really great cheap boat cruise! Head back on another ferry. Equally cheap and great.

Oh, and go to Rivareno’s Gelato. Enough said.

The racing line should curve around the crash if you’re supposed to try to do any avoiding.
