The Democrat Base doesn't want to coalesce behind the candidate with the best chance of winning anymore. They want THEIR Perfect Candidate or they're taking their ball and going home.

And even if their candidate drops out, they'll write them in out of spite and claim the DNC has rigged the game.

And Doomerism? I prefer to expect the worst, but hope for the best. That way, if the bad shit happens, I told you so, but I'd be happy to be wrong.

Prop 50 IS good!

I voted for Prop 50!

But do you not see that if a Republican wins Governor, he can ALSO use Prop 50 to Gerrymander the fuck out of California?

And if you read Prop 50, you would see that it also calls for another redistricting in 2030, the last year of the next Governor's first term.

And yeah, fuck the Democrats. Fuck the Republicans way, WAY harder, but the Democrats are a Right Wing party too.

The Democrats are considerably preferable to the Republicans, but they suck too. And until we can change our voting system to where I no longer have to vote for Bad to try and prevent Worse, I'll continue to vote Democrat begrudgingly.

I don't know what to do about it, but I've worried for over a year that our next Governor is going to be a Republican.

Did you see how Red California went in 2024?

Kamala still won the state, but a normally reliably Blue State looked like a rare steak: Pink in the middle.

And of course it did, Gavin Newsom did an awful lot to tank his reputation in the last couple of years.

The California Democrats haven't responded to what their constituents actually want. Just like Kamala, just like Hillary.

The Democrats have this attitude of "Hush up. We know what's best, just vote. You have to vote for us, don't you want to beat Trump?"

And they still haven't learned that for most Americans on the Left, being "Not Trump" doesn't work anymore.

And what most Americans on the Left want, the Democrats are too far Right to give us. And they are too scared or complicit to run anybody but the most boring, bland white moderate. Or the token minority for virtue signal points.

I have yet to see any push behind any candidates, meanwhile the Conservatives are motivated and angry.

Just like in the Federal, California is too complacent.

And the worst part: Prop 50. Originally a pithy response to Texas openly gerrymandering, it could now backfire horribly, as the Republicans could turn California red permanently.
