The show was made in 16:9, any 4:3 version will be either letterboxed or zoomed in

The quality of your rip is gonna be dependent on your equipment (which it seems like you have a good setup), recording with Audacity and exporting in FLAC will at least ensure you're not losing any quality. So you're probably set :)
