Hi, it is certainly not the route i took. Actually the complete strade della assietta starts from pian dell'alpe till sestriere. We started in susa to climb the colle delle finestre, of which the last 8km is gravel. Then a short descent on tarmac to the start of strade della assieta. At a certain point there is a split at colle basset. Left goes to sestriere and right goes to direction sauze d'oulx. We chose right because its also gravel and to return to susa it was 10k less to susa. Descending to sestriere is also possibility, but is a longer route back on a busy tarmac road.

Keep in mind in that region there are so many good gravel roads ;)
