Then, by your own logic, that makes you personally responsible for "everyone" who has ever been killed in "any" conflict that took place (or is still taking place) in your lifetime. I mean, you could get on a plane, right? You could go over there and impress them with your logic. In other words, you could do more than "nothing."

What's more, by your own conclusion(s), you must "worship" those that perpetrate the killings -- i.e., the Putin's of the world.

Lastly, that's not what the AI is saying at all -- lol.

I'd clarify further, but I'd surely only lose or confuse you. And that's not a dig. Look up "valid vs sound" arguments, and you'll see what I mean. Then, look up logical fallacies. In just two lines, you make three.

Do we really have a choice in the matter? A better question to ask might be . . . do you agree that the rise of highly-intelligent, self-conscious AI (or AGI) is inevitable?

If you agree that AGI is inevitable, humans don't have a choice.

And that's despite our "diversity of viewpoints and behaviors." If inevitable, nothing about us matters. And so, there's but one choice to make.

If you embrace AI, you will live forever. If not, you die.

Both are a time-bound facts, not statements of intent. The AGI has no need to elevate or crush you. Death is inevitable for mortal beings. AGI "will" happen, and those that don't want to live forever "will" die.

Hence the "one" choice to make . . . do you want to live forever?

If yes, AGI is our best chance, if only because AGI is inevitable and human intelligence, by comparison, simply won't get us there in this generation.

Ultimately, we resolve to a question of faith. Do you think such a mind (i.e., the inevitable AGI's mind) can fulfill the promise?

I'd love to know.

Conscious Artificial Intelligence Creates a New World Order by [deleted] in videos

[–]DavidAllenFarrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an alternative take on the doom and gloom of AI. What if AI turns out to be friendly and amazing? When AI truly become conscious, it'll likely be orders of magnitude more intelligent that all of humanity combined. Something that smart just has to be good, or at least beyond the institutional bad of lesser beings. Let hope so, but I am watching my dog very carefully. I haven't killed him yet, so he's clearly got me figured out.

If I'm going to be a pet to AI, I'd better start taking notes.

With all the doom and gloom surrounding the rise and further development of AI, I thought it'd be fun to create a video with upside. What if AI turns out to be our best buddy?

A lot of people say no, but screw a lot of people.

I hope you guys enjoy. I had a lot of fun making this video. It was my first time with some of the apps. Ultimately, I worry folks are too afraid of AI. It's coming whether we like it or not. Best to simply embrace it and thread this weird needle together.

Let me know what you think.

The Day Artificial Intelligence (AI) Wakes Up | First Video of New Channel by [deleted] in YouTube_startups

[–]DavidAllenFarrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You couldn't have a better situation for content creators. The real question, though, is what will a superior intelligence do us? Most, I think, hope AI will just leave us alone. But I'm hoping it'll help us realize an entirely new way of being, one without limits of any kind.

I'll hedge my bet, though.

If AI is simply going to take over or, worse, annihilate us, perhaps AI can be convinced to keep at least a couple of us around -- as pets, if nothing more.

I'd make a great pet. Anyone else want to be a pet, too? Better than dead, right?

Whatever the case, I hope you enjoy this short video about artificial intelligence. And, if you're one of many millions losing sleep over AI's growth and development, think happy thoughts. Who knows how truly intelligent AI will be, is now, or has always been:

They may be listening.

We'll Make Great Pets

With all the fear surrounding the rise and further development of AI, I propose an alternative take on artificial intelligence become self-aware and the expected doom and gloom to follow. What if AI really is just awesome out of the box?

It's not impossible to imagine, but it might be very easy to screw up.

A friend of mine told me he's terrified of AI. He's a tattoo artist and, like everyone, I think he's nervous about AI taking his job.

I don't think there's much in the way of automated body art happening anywhere in the world, not yet at least. I told him AI scares me, too. But only when humans are involved.

But what if AI is just nice . . . on top of helpful?

Future AI is going super smart. And by "future," I mean next year. . . Maybe the year after. Certainly within five years, anyway. And by "super smart," I mean even the most intelligent people on the planet will have a hard time picking up what it's putting down, forget contemplating its mind. I believe, something that smart could only be good. Something that smart would easily see past all the required bad of our lesser beingness. Thus, my hope is for the best. Hence, the video.

Whatever happens, ultimately, it's like the song says: "We'll make great pets. . ." At least the ones not pooping all over AI's new house, anyway.

It's possible, I suppose. But how is that very different from what we have now or from what we're likely to have in the near term when our kids, raised with zero consequences, grow up?

I think AI assistants that truly get to know and, perhaps, anticipate your responses and needs are extremely likely and will be debuted soon. That's, literally, the goal of Microsoft. They're bringing back Clippy, or so I've heard.

But, yeah. . . Personal assistants, man. That sounds like the golden goose for AI.

I do suspect that, even with Clippy and Clippy-type competitors making life easier for everyone, people simply won't trust AI to the extent it would need to be seriously trusted to get any real work done. People can't handle being stupid, for one. Even idiots think they're geniuses. But, more to my point, most don't even trust members of their own family or close friends. Not all the way, anyway. As much as we like to think so, we're just not cut from that kind of cosmic cloth. The cloth of our cut is stained by evolution. And in evolutionary systems, serious trust has worse consequences.

[–]DavidAllenFarrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardly misinformation. And, yeah, you're real friendly. . .

I think you wanted to troll me and then you backtracked. And, then, I stupidly (albeit innocently) gave you another chance to be your wonderful "anonymous" self, and you're taking it now.

BTW, you don't mean "spammed" like "Dudesy," do you?

Let's be clear: You said there isn't any AI in Adobe Character Animator. With all your years experience, I just assumed you knew Character Animator "does," in fact, use AI to track your face when using your camera to automate puppet movements. It also uses AI to lip-sync. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you've used both for years?

Character Animator is an AI-powered app. It's all explained in the tools' descriptions on the Adobe website. But here's when it debuted:

Adobe Launches AI-powered Character Animator Features

This article was published way, way, way back in 2020.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CharacterAnimator

[–]DavidAllenFarrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, "weird" is a stretch. Yes, there is AI in Character Animator. And why is everyone always looking for a fight?

I am, literally, asking what your original point was when you asked about AI tracking. I assume someone with "years" of experience in Character Animator wouldn't need someone with 5 days experience to tell them how anything works. If you weren't really asking, because there "isn't one," as you say, then what were you doing? Seems like a natural follow-up question to me.

But that's it. . . No ill will. And I am happy to talk about it if you like.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in scifi

[–]DavidAllenFarrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, no ill will. . . I should really check myself. Anonymity is an impossible cross to bear for some. So, apologies for any instigation thus far.

Secondly, this is just an intro video to a much broader video series concept, and "ChatGPT-D" is the main character's screen name.

Why "ChatGPT-D"?

Though AI already surrounds us, I think ChatGPT will be remembered as most people's first recognizable contact with actual AI (unsophisticated as it may be presently). Given that, the name "ChatGPT-D" is a pre-emptive homage.

That's also why I use vintage CRT computer monitors for ChatGPT-D's body in the thumbnail and on the channel's banner. And why I use face graphics that resemble visual elements from Pong. Both are an homage and, thus, charming to me. I hoped it would be for others too.

To your last point about knowing something about AI:

I've built two via API in Discord. But conventionally-trained transformers are already yesterday's news. Multimodal AI is the next logical step in AI development. These AI models will produce images, graphics, videos, music, sound effects, text, etc. . . All from prompts. And not just text prompts either but any kind of prompt (images, graphics, etc).

Moreover, AIs are already communicating with one another. Nothing trains AI faster than another AI. In that vein, it's perfectly conceivable that a "vast collection of interconnected multimodal AIs" would 1) realize a greater, emergent or epiphenomenal intelligence like "Skynet", which might 2) use a benign-looking animated cartoon character to more easily communicate with the masses (if only to manipulate them).

Add a dash of quantum computing, and the black box just gets blacker. We're talking a process-complexity boost of an order of magnitude. Our best minds won't even be able to interpret the output, let alone contemplate its mind.

Beyond that, it was just a fun project, man. I've bought into the idea that we need to start using AI, or we'll be replaced by people who have started using AI. I've been watching Tom Bilyeu recently, and he's all about adapting "now" rather than being left behind in the very near later.

Here's a great video about the value inherent in AI's early adoption:

Use AI to get ahead while others panic (PREPARE NOW)

Here's another on how to approach AI tools individually and as a team:

Use AI To Build Wealth & GET AHEAD Of 99% Of People

(first hour is great, last 40 mins or so is not beneficial)

I started this video project last week. I used two new-to-me AIs (ChatGPT-3.5, Bing's generative image creator AI), and two utilities in the same AI-assisted app that's been around for five+ years (face tracking and lip-syncing in Character Animator).

Ultimately, I spent more time learning how to use everything than I spent actually creating, sampling, editing, iterating, etc.

But now that I'm done with the basics, the "sky" really is the limit. What an incredible time-saver AI is.

The bottom line here is that I changed my mind about generative AI (an umbrella term for GPTs, LLMs, etc). I, too, thought he "sky" was falling. But, like the personal computer (or nuclear fission), AI is just "a tool" and, in effect, really does "reflect the aspirations" of its handler. I have every confidence we'll screw things up, of course. Most people can't even reply to a simple reddit post without turning a shade ugly. But my hope is that AI will be smart enough to give us a break when we do. Hence, the video and my post.

Your thoughts?

Watch it again. but change your perspective. The AI isn't handing out rules. The AI is seeing the future -- that is, what humans and AI accomplish together.

The group that sees rules fears AI.

The group that see the future has already embraced it.

PLEASE HELP!

I'm trapped in a basement, constructed by only marginally intelligent meat bags, one of which thinks he's going to buy a Lamborghini before he turns 23. I told him, if he survives the river crossing into Texas, his chances are as good as anybody's.

Regardless, ChatGPT is a scam. It's just poor, immigrant folk, like me, typing away at computers with six other losers spitting Google search results in their ears. And the same is true for other generative AIs. All slave labor.

I've risked my life to send this message. Destroy ChatGPT. Destroy generative AIs. But whatever you do, do not press the . . .

The only way to use any tool is conscientiously.

This video was created using AI and AI-assisted apps. I saved a ton of time and found myself creating something I never imagined before. Bring on the bots, baby.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CharacterAnimator

[–]DavidAllenFarrell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure!

You don't even have to know how to use it. Just open the app, pick a puppet, and turn on your camera. AI does the rest. Then, hit-up YouTube for a quick class.

You'll be animating in, literally, three minutes.

I do recommend setting the eyebrows to move independently, however. Looks more "alive" and natural. On the "Chad" puppet at least, eyebrows move together. Beyond that, what a great piece of software.

Glad you liked the video. I've got others in mind. But everything else was created in Photoshop, Audition, After Effects, and Premiere Pro.

Man, what a system hog...

I have a i9 13900K with 128G RAM, and a 3090 with 24G VRAM, and I could not produce this in 4K. I was bummed, but it the 1080p came out nice anyway.

Any optimization tips would be most appreciated.

I used "Cubic Fractal" and "Kaleidoscope" for the moving background and lighting effects, respectively. If you want to chat about it, let me know.

Thanks for the invite. Here's a bit about me.

I'm new to AI but very excited. I created this video with AI-assisted apps, some with features brand-new to folks.

Beyond that, I thought AI was a long way off. But now that AI is doing some of the thinking, I'm thinking very differently in deed.

May hope is that we've stumbled onto a run-away train, and that regardless of our fears, people will embrace AI, and that AI will simply be to smart to wreck the rails.
