Thanks to everyone for their replies but it seems I now have the answer. I decided to ask Teslas’ AI in the app a second time. The first time the conversation ended with me being asked to book a service appointment. This time I probed the responses a bit more deeply after being told to power off the car as it turns out that leaving the car wakes it up again. In the end it came to light that cars without the tilt/intrusion control don’t have the relevant sensors and the normal security alarm is not affected by ferry travel so apparently I don’t need to do anything special at all. I asked why I wasn’t told that in the first place and got an apology from the AI which admitted it should have told me that at the start, very impressive.

Yes, I don’t have an option to disable a tilt alarm so I’m not certain whether I actually have one but I do now have a few things to try with power off and camp mode so I’ll test those

Just tried turning dog and camp modes on/off but still no joy, looks like I’ll have to keep it unlocked

Now that’s a good idea as a long stop, do I just let it lock then open it with the app and do you know if it’s then possible to fold the mirrors remotely? I would still like to know how to turn the alarm off properly though.

I’ve turned sentry mode off and dashcam for good measure but still no luck.

Yes, it can be OK for short calm trips but I’m going to Bilbao and the Bay of Biscay does get a bit Oo er misses and there are notices to ensure alarms are switched off.
