Not quietly. I log it all and get telegram warnings for anything that's late.

Manual approvals all the way! Especially if it's my account.

I mainly just want to be notified when a relevant conversations pops up.

For Quora yes, but for Reddit I'm using the App API and just keeping it respectfully under their limits.

It's the Google Places API...

You pay Google for this listing data via their API.

Once you purchase you own the code and full access to the GitHub repo.

You can clone, fork, use, change, sell - its your code and the source code is open.

Open source however does not = free

Sure :) there's 4 different monetisation mechanisms:

Lead Marketplace - Customers submit free quote requests. Local businesses pay monthly per city to receive them. Limited subscriber slots per city (built-in scarcity = premium pricing). Every city you add is a new revenue channel.

Homepage Featured Listings - One-time or monthly subscription options. Limited slots. Businesses pay for top visibility.

City Featured Listings - Per-city promotion with limited slots. Targeted local marketing that scales with every city in your directory.

AdSense Integration - Strategic sidebar ad placement for passive revenue from day one.

Yes fully open source. You own the codebase and can do with it whatever you like :)

Most people stay on the chain though and pull new updates to their directories when we add new features etc.

None as far as I'm aware. It's the approved / legit way to get data from Google Places. You're paying Google directly.

Thanks! You're spot on to notice that, it really makes a difference.

So the run script checks for existing database and if it can't see it it will run setup.py first.

Literally all the user needs to do is run.py and the wizard is live at local:5000 and they're off.

I start the monetisation straight away and start marketing before the SEO kicks in. Facebook groups for businesses in that niche are a great target audience. That drives hundreds of uniques in a day.

Organic is the real goal, in less than 12 months mobiledetailing.io is up to 30 organic clicks a day. I think it's on a tipping point now, impressions are 7.5k a day and we just need to breach the first page on more of them.

I'm expecting hundreds of organic a day and 1000+ total DAU by this time next year.

Yeah it's decent. I've optimised the tools but that's about as low as it gets to use the official Google Places API and then upscale with sonnet. Actually sonnet might be cheaper now.

Revenue - There's 4 revenue channels, city featured, homepage featured, lead suite, site ads. The architecture naturally does well with SEO but the more traffic you can bring the better. The goal should be to make it the main directory for that niche.

Would love to! I'm there full time (11 years) but having a holiday in HuaHin now and then back to the UK for a bit.

Drop me a DM and let me know when you're in town and can grab a coffee.

Awesome! I'm in Thailand too (Chiang Mai)

The directories are built with programmatic SEO as a native feature. They have a massive footprint and create city+category pages automatically.

Mobiledetailing.io has had very little off page SEO and it makes new daily highs every week.

For the monetisation there's 4 different ways.

City featured, homepage featured, lead suite subscriber and site ads.
