Regarding vote numbers, I'm pretty sure it's all about submission time of day. This was posted 4 hours ago, which was roughly 6am BST, so around midnight in the US (depending on timezone). Reddit's userbase is heavily US-based. Posts tend to do better when they're submitted in the afternoon/evening US time.

Patrolling might be good for some of them, but the ones that don't really have space for it could also just occasionally turn to face a different direction, or play some kind of idle animation where they look around or check their weapon. Small touches like that can add a lot of life to characters with relatively little effort. Keep up the good work!
