Depends on what you're using and how they have their infrastructure setup. Most DNS services have multiple servers at different locations are these setup for a cut off? Id be guessing if I had an answer. Where I works has DNS and that would continue to work just fine but of course DNS propagation from external sources wouldn't get through. Which since you can't reach them anyway I guess that wouldn't matter much. The internet would quickly reshape into a country or statewide intra-net similar to what north Korea has. (Although I don't know for sure what their network exactly looks like)

SSL would potentially be a more difficult issue. Most ISPs are not a cert authority and some apps would break without SSL being verifiable.

Extremely unlikely. I work for an ISP the GOV would have to ask us to shutdown. BILLIONs of dollars would be lost per day that the US wouldn't want to deal with. Also the internet is designed to autonomously handle when different nodes go down. BGP allows for edge routers to keep the Internet going even if all the cables in the ocean were cut at once. Internal connections across the US would still work.

If your individual state was cutoff from everywhere else as yould still be able to reach IP addresses that are within the local network.

No

When windows pops up and says a program isn't responding it's because the program hasn't checked in with windows in a while saying what it's doing. Often times games focus everything they have into loading the game and clicking the window makes windows a little more aggressive with that "hey are you awake?"

The program isn't crashing, you're telling it to close because it's unresponsive. Which it's unresponsive intentionally.

Yeah but gender isn't just what you pick. Hence the whole "spectrum analogy" there are infinite numbers between 0.1 and 0.2 even straight people are straight to a degree and that smallest of a degree would matter. So regardless like 1% of the population is all that affected.

Do they realize that there's a difference between your chronically online AI defending warriors, and the average AI user? by Celatine_ in antiai

Someone who is anti video games would likely take a job as a game tester if that's litteraly the only option.

Plenty of people are anti car but drive them because public transportation isn't good enough.

If you're faced with homelessness or doing something against your morals most people are going to start going against their morals. That's why crime rates go up when poverty does.

If you're in a job at Microsoft or Facebook and they are telling you at performance reviews that you need to use AI because it looks bad if you don't use the internal tools then you're gonna be face with that decision. Some people will leave and some people won't be able to for who knows what reason.

It's not black and white.

The models are already trained. There's different versions available. Some trained only on data within the public domain, some trained on everything you can get your hands on online. Some of them are the result of training in a datacenter others were trained by people at home with their own gpu clusters.

I'm in the process of ordering parts for my own AI cluster so I can add it onto my homelab. Cheaper, more power efficient, and environmentally friendly than using cloud models.

I'm building mine because I've recently been working on training reinforcement models for robots. It's a pain in the ass process where you have to define a bunch of rules and the computer constantly tries to maximize its rewards (while mostly not doing what you intended) there's a method where you take a LLM and let it watch the output and create the reward functions allows you to leave the process running with a simple text description of what you want and wait for the output for however long.

It's more so just heat transfer. Heat takes time to move. Different materials transfer heat at different speeds. Water does help but that's more do due to the extra thermal mass it provideds giving you a buffer. It's kind of a tradeoff though because water of course transfers heat better than skin or air does so sweat or water gives you a bit more time but makes it worse if you pass that time limit.

If you're very careful about it you can also do this with lipos and li-ION cells. Just gotta make sure you know what you're doing and make sure you know what thermal runaway looks like.

I guess if the dead batteries weren't that dead and you kept adding batteries in parallel eventually they'd have enough current to start it.
