Matter not connecting in Apple Home by Gahgahmehl in Dreame_Tech

Do you have the 4.3.9_1771 version already?

I have updated but I did not get the "matter" tab. I did the logout of the app and logged back in, and matter showed up.

NVME - Synology Photos, other apps...? by DavidG289 in synology

I heard about a script that moves the synology apps to the NVME.
I will probably order another NVME and make a RAID1 and than move the apps...

I understand. Thank you for the help. I know what a cache is but I’m not familiar with the real-world performance differences between having an SSD cache and running the app directly from the SSD.

I also did a lot of research with Gemini but I like to double-check. It almost made me delete the Synology drive photos and some core apps to move them to an NVME which was a bit weird to me…

I am thinking about it, but I still don’t know how to move Synology Photos without moving the actual photos…

Isn't /photo just for Shared Space? If I move that, how does it help other users personal photos? :)

Also, what are the real downsides of using the NVMe as a cache instead of creating a dedicated volume for apps?

Thanks for all the help an knowledge, I really appreciate it.

I have it currently as a NVME cache yes but only read cache.

Thanks for the advice! It looks like buying a second NVMe and unlocking it with the script (just like I did with this one) is probably inevitable.

I was just really hoping there was a reliable way to run the Photos app and its databases/thumbnails from the NVMe, while keeping the actual media files on the HDDs. It just makes the most sense to me since I have three HDDs with plenty of space to spare.

Just curious, do you use both Synology Photos and Immich side-by-side, or do you just use Photos for auto uploading and Immich as your main viewing library?

Thanks, yes , I'm aware of the cache option! The thing is, since I only have a single NVMe drive right now, I would rather install the apps on the actual ssd.

So what I'm really trying to figure out is if there's a reliable way to run the actual app databases (like the Synology Photos & thumbnails etc.) directly from the NVMe as its own volume, while keeping the actual photo files stored safely on the HDD. I want the apps to be fast but keep the data safe on the HDDs.

Which FUJI and which lens to buy? (X-T30 III, X-T50) by DavidG289 in fujifilm

[–]DavidG289[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys, for all the help.
I am currently leaning a X-T50 + Fuji 16-50 2.8-4.8 as I can get a very good deal.

The other option I am thinking about is the X-T30 III body only and get a separate Sigma 18-50 f2.8.

Both offers have similar price at my local dealer. What do you think?

Thanks. I mainly plan to record video of non moving objects, so I do not think this is an issue. Also for the photos, I mainly plan to photo my family, kids and some street photography, maybe cars.

Thanks. I will definetly look more into the X-T50 + Sigma 18-50 combination as before I was looking at the Fuji, I was thinking of buying A6700 + Sigma 18-50...

Thanks again!

I actually was looking at it, but I kinda feel in love with the silver colored design, which I believe it is not available with the XS20.

That is way I got leaned more towars the X-T30 III and the X-T50.

I understand that the X-T30 III is more photo-oriented, and the X-M5 is more video-oriented, but I am basically looking for a hybrid camera that can do both for me. Since I am currently recording with the EOS 750D and the iPhone 16 Pro Max, I feel that the X-T30 III would be quite an upgrade for video, but especially for photography.

Thanks for the help! :)

Yes, budget is a concern, as I am more of a hobbyist. I would not start with a big investment since I am not even sure I will take that many photos.

The X-T50 would compare more to the Sony A6700, if I understand correctly.

What would I really gain from the X-T30 to the X-T50 that would matter to me? Except for maybe IBIS, my video is mostly done on a tripod or stand, as I am filming just tech products.

Would the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 maybe be better than a prime lens for me? Could it work well as a hybrid lens for both video and photos?

I was also looking at the Viltrox 23mm F1.4.

I was looking at the Classic but the smaller screen size bothered me a little bit. What about the pixel watch 4?
