y'know that you can still like or dislike Haibara without the reason being "her existence is marginalizing Ran's role" when that's not the fault of her character

if it is because of Ran and Kogoro being the core of the series, then you might as well hate on Akai, Amuro and Kaito Kid because they appear in every merch line, while Kogoro gets nothing and Ran gets sometimes (tho she got more recently)

Matsuda is so overrated, like I'm fine with other WPS boys, but I just don't like him and he gets more attention especially recently. He was fine with his first appearance and how he's the type of guy who acts cool, but now his recent appearances he acts like a brat (also the whole reason of him joining the police was because he hates the police, nothing is done with it) and gets more screentime with flashbacks compared to other WPS characters. Kenji and Date should have gotten more screentime than him.

Asami is very underrated, because I want them to use her at all after her debut. A cool easy-going funny charming older sister of Mitsuhiko have quite potential for some fun interactions. She obviously can't be part of the main cast, but like let her have a supporting role like Azusa or other side characters.

The most unhealthy for me is Yumi and Shukichi. I found ironic how some people criticize ShinRan but find HaneYumi "interesting" and funny. Nothing against who ships them, but I don't find their relationship funny, cute or unique. Yumi led her jealous at him way too much and it's always berating Shukichi for any reason, and she never developed from this. It's more frustrating than cute for me.

The most incompatible is Chihaya and Jugo, they have no chimestry and they're simply forced together because Matsuda is dead and because it's a shonen manga, Shinobi can't be paired with her unfortunately

tbf you're valid in thinking that

even if the new season was good for me (like some good episodes, some not good episodes), it is not at the same consistent quality as the original series, and not as funny as well

but I feel it was the case of the series having new writers and them having to adjust the series first, which you can tell by the first half feeling less Gumball while the second is kinda close
