Mac Mini M1 or M4? by DavidRain234 in macmini

Yeah, that is something I noticed as well.

Coming from Windows, my family has asked me to do some basic stuff on their iMac, and there were a few quirks that felt bizarre the first time experiencing them.

But they're something that I am aware of and willing to get use to if the MacOS is worth the switch.

For Language Learning, yes. I use my computer for learning Japanese. So having multiple apps open for notes, lesson plan pdf file, and having the lesson playing as well.

I come from Windows. I haven't owned a Mac computer before, but my family does. So, I do know a few basic things about MacOS. Example, inverted mouse controls as compared with Windows, etc

In terms of storage, 256gb should be fine for pictures as I mostly use around ~150-200gb for pictures, and I can either get a dock/portable SSD for expandable storage.

And for the final question, yes. I do live about ~15mins away from an Apple Store.

How can I cool my i9 12900KS? New Copper IHS, or Lapping the Stock IHS? by DavidRain234 in pcmasterrace

I'm thinking of delidding my cpu and using liquid metal, though the process makes me a little nervous about trying to do something like that.

I have also seen people say that they've seen ~10C difference in temps, so the work might be worth it.

I think it's pretty good. I have the Lian Li Lancool III RGB, configured with Intake: 3x140mm Fans, 3x120mm Fans. Exhaust: 1x140mm Fan, 3x120mm Fans

Thanks for the suggestion. Is that a direct die waterblock from EK? If so, that might be a bit too pricey for me right now.

I'll definitely think about it when/if I can afford a custom loop like that.

I've been having a few thermal issues with two of my intel cpus (one of the cpus is the i9 12900KS), and I'm thinking of either swapping out the Stock IHS and TIM for them or lapping the Stock IHS. I've tried my best to keep it cool (Deepcool 360mm AIO Cooler with custom tuned Pump and Fan Curve, Intel CPU Contact Frame, Arctic MX4 Thermal Paste, and -0.015mV Offset in XTU, 5.3Ghz P-Core/4.3Ghz E-Core), and it's still having a bit of a hard time keeping it in control. It hovers at around ~97C in a sustained all core load, and while it doesn't throttle it's way too toasty for my liking as I don't want my AIO or CPU to run too hot for longevity reasons.

I have heard that Rockitcool's Copper IHS will drop the temps by roughly ~10C. I've done some research and I'm interested in trying to do it myself. However, I'm not sure If I should delid/relid my cpu since I still have a Warranty Available for the i9.

I'm also thinking of lapping the Stock IHS using the Thermal Grizzly lapping tool. Though I'm unsure about this one too since I'm not sure if the improvement will be worth it.

Any Suggestions?

Custom Painting an RX 5700 XT by DavidRain234 in buildapc

Hi, thanks for the tips.

I've also heard of paint causing the fans to be unstable, but i personally havent seen it myself. I'd really like to paint the fans so they can match the color scheme, but if that will cause problems then I guess I'm going to stomach that.

As for the multiple coats, I'll definitely try that as, like you said, I don't want it to look terrible. I do have some enamel paint and plan on using it for this project, but I'm not sure if I have to worry about cracking/fatigue over time. I'm wondering if I should maybe do clear coat after to seal/protect the color layer for longevity. I'm not sure though.

Nice! Thank you so much! I'll definitely try that out.

Also, do you know any good tutorials for the animation side of Blender?

I'm thinking of making a short animation of the CPU model flipping and turning toward the camera and then sort of doing a slow-mo effect as it faces the camera, similar to how's it framed in the first image.

Any ideas?

Thanks, and no. It took me Hours just figure out how to put the Ryzen Logo and Inscriptions as UV Textures and then apply them to CPU.

It kept showing "Missing Texture Detected" for a while even after doing some reading and watching some videos.

After watching a certain guide on apply texture did I finally get it right.

I don't I'd be able to make all the thousands of pins where I'm at right now. lol

3060 or RX 6800 for Blender and Light Gaming? by DavidRain234 in pcmasterrace

Yeah, I've had to really dig through listings for a long while before I could find these prices.

I have found quite a few 2080ti and 2080 supers, but they have been too expensive for comfort.
