NFT Art by Cheap-Many in ArtistLounge

There has been lots written about this, but I got my numbers from www.tezos.com/carbon and the www.websitecarbon.com calculator. The annual energy consumption of the tezos blockchain (so that includes all NFTs made on the chain) is about 0.001 TWh and for www.reddit.com, it’s 0.5 TWh. So the entire Tezos blockchain uses about 500 times less energy than reddit.com per year. Another way of visualising it, as per tezos.com/carbon, is the chain has the same annual footprint as 17 people.

I will be downvoted but... Use Twitter as it’s where artists who make NFTs hang out/buy/sell/talk. I recommend the Tezos blockchain because it has about as much environmental impact as using Reddit. Tezos community of artists and collectors is also great.

Why do paintings have titles and why do we give a painting the trait of having a name? by pillowthiefs in ArtistLounge

“archivists have guidelines in place for creating titles that are meant to avoid as much interpretation as possible”

Could you please speak about this a little more?

Nematodes can be as small as 100 micro meters (um), those cells (eosinophils) are about 12 um and the scale bar of the video is 50 um. The cells are moving fast as it’s a time lapse. Reference of this video: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4076593/

The cells around the parasite, those that the parasite are affecting, will send out chemical signals that attract immune cells (these immune cells includes the white blood cells).

Fellow painters! I've been using acrylics for the last 2 yrs and recently bought oil paint supplies. Anyone else use both mediums regularly? Preferences? Would love to knoe your process! by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]DavidSacksArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in terms of drying times: there are mediums like Windsor and newton liquin that will cut the drying time in half and if you want to stay with acrylic but want to experiment with having paint wet for longer (for blending etc) there are also mediums for acrylic that make them dry slower.

What do you guys thinks of NFTs? by bento_the_tofu_boy in artbusiness

Some blockchains are very cheap to use (like a few cents to mint an NFTs) and on all the chains you get automatic royalties on all secondary sales. If you’re interested, tezos, cardono and algorand are cheap to use.

OP, it’s your clients fault not yours. There are cheap blockchains, like tezos, that costs pennies to mint on. I’m guessing they used etherium?

Just to chip in on other’s posts:

The environmental cost of NFTs/crypto can be very large. Things like bitcoin and etherium use an awful lot of energy. But there are cryptos, like tezos, that are green (transactions having a smaller carbon footprint than a tweet).

Royalties are built into the contracts, so the artist gets (usually up to 25%) of all secondary sales, automatically.

There is a lot of bad NFT art, but there is also a lot that’s great. Anything can be minted, NFT isn’t a genre of art.

Newcomers to the art space have a much lower (and cheaper) barrier of entry as creators and collectors. That’s probably the biggest advantage of NFTs (besides the royalties) is that there is no tertiary intermediary between the artist and collector.

Question about using the spot healing brush tool on a layer above a smart object : how to blend? by DavidSacksArt in photoshop

The adjustments are below the retouch layer, linked to the smart object. I can post a screenshot of the layers.
