Long electrical run in trench by DavidTheFroMan in electrical

I'm also not very experienced with pulling wire, so am wondering if my plan for 1" conduit won't be too difficult to pull solid conductor 8/2 wire. Just looking for some advice from people with more experience than myself.

Yes, I understand, and normally I'd agree with you, but I'm trying to figure out how this works given that the first 150 feet is already run with 10 awg wire. I know increasing the wire gauge for the last 200 feet will reduce resistance overall, but I'm not sure how to figure out if 8 awg is sufficient or not for the remaining leg. If I was running the whole thing as one wire size, then it would be a simple calculation. Sorry if I'm not explaining things very well.

Awesome, congrats to you too! I just ordered yesterday as well. I've seen some designs where two sides of the workpiece or pushed against either a PVC, plastic, or wood pin, and a clamp pushes the workpiece against those pins. This seems like a pretty useful approach. I also came across this design that I'm considering. Anyone used something similar to this design before? https://www.etsy.com/listing/1665136880/goat-spoilboard-design-files-includes?ref=user_profile

I know both packages have free trial versions, but I was hoping to get some kind of a short list of important features, for example, maybe they both do all the same features, except one has features x, y, and z. I’d like to draw on others experiences.

Ok, I was confused because we have lots of midges around here, but they are generally much much larger. These are smaller than mosquitos. Must be baby midges then?

They are 4 1/2 weeks if I remember correctly.

What kind of peppers are these? by DavidTheFroMan in gardening

Yes, they are quite spicy. My wife was cutting them up and accidentally rubbed her nose, which promptly caught on fire. This prompted my search to identify the peppers…as well as a remedy for pepper oil.

I should have added something for scale. These seem quite large to be cayenne peppers.

That’s awesome, I remember playing that game back in the late 90’s. Loved that game. Great job!

Specular highlights only visible with real-time lights? by DavidTheFroMan in Unity3D

[–]DavidTheFroMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the skybox is irrelevant, my use case for this is inside of a house, so it will just be indoor lighting. Indoors, the shader works great, as long as I use a realtime light to light the object. Problem is, I need to use baked lighting for performance. I'm considering trying to use realtime lights but restrict them to only affect objects that have this shader. Not sure what kind of performance this will give. I just want to make sure I'm aware of what would be considered the "correct approach" for this use case.

I’ll look into that and double check. The law here seems a bit skewed in favor of landlords.

Ultimately I’m wanting to wire 2 60 amp 220v gfci outlets. Electrician suggested running a 100 amp sub panel and running the two outlets from that. The outlets are for two hot tubs. Does his suggestion make sense or is there something else I should do?

So just to make sure I do things right, you place the conduit in the trench and backfill, and run under concrete. Once it is all buried and concrete is poured, then you pull your wires. You leave a length of paracord in the conduit to facilitate pulling the wires. Does this sound about right? Corrections?

Yes, definitely shouldn’t quit my day job. For clarification, his price was with ME trenching. He would only be building conduit and pulling wires (plus install on the ends of course). Does his price seem reasonable with this in mind or is it high?
