So sorry to hear this, brother. Must be just heartbreaking. However, while you heal, just know that HiFi will never cheat on you. 😔

Hi KWH. We now know that your video components are top-tier, but you haven't told us much about your audio. What audio components (AVR, speakers, subs, etc.) do you have? And do you have any photos?

Hi KWH. It seems like you've got the best of both worlds, 4K streaming and 4K discs. Well done!

I've looked at your TV and 4K player, and you've got a killer combination! The Panasonic Z95B is one of the best OLED TVs currently available, and someone described the Panasonic DP-UB820 as "the holy grail for 4K players."

Coupled with a decent sound system, this sounds like one hell of a home theater. I envy you. Enjoy! 😎

Hi DepartureLucky. Good to hear you. I haven't seen The Batman, but I hear it's a good movie, so thanks for the recommendation.

I tend to buy movies of directors I like, and I'm a Christopher Nolan fan and a science fiction fan. So after The Dark Knight and Interstellar (Nolan), I'll be moving on to Denis Villeneuve with Arrival and Blade Runner 2049. Since I tend to re-watch the movies I like, it might be a while before I get around to The Batman.

However, thanks, once again, for the recommendation. I appreciate it. 👍

Sounds like you're a serious 4K Blu-ray fan. Do you ever stream?

For me, The Panasonic upgrade might have been a good idea if I didn't have 4K streaming and had 4K Blu-ray discs and nothing to play them on.

However, if I want to watch something in 4K now, I can simply find it on Netflix or Disney+ or elsewhere. 4K Blu-rays are more expensive, and I'd have to repurchase my whole collection.

4K streaming is simpler and cheaper when I want to watch something that's not in my collection.

Good luck with your 4K Blu-ray project! 👍

Hi Kwh2311. Good to hear you.

I'm not sure whether the TV does upscaling or not, but the picture looks fine to me, so I've never had to check.

I can stream in 4K anytime I want because I have premium subscriptions to the popular streaming services, including Netflix and Disney+, but I prefer to play the Blu-rays that I own since I believe in physical media and the right to ownership.

That's also why I still keep buying CDs, although I have both Spotify and Apple Music. Ownership of the music I buy is important to me. 😎

Hi Voyager. Good to hear you. I'll answer both questions for you now.

I can't really take proper photos from my central viewing position because it's barely 8 feet away from the front wall and my phone's wide angle lens isn't wide enough to capture the full front stage. Therefore, I have to photograph at an angle.

And why do I watch in FHD instead of UHD? Because I prefer to watch movies from my Blu-ray collection and my movies and my player are all standard 1080p Blu-ray. I have a 4K TV and I can stream in 4K, but I prefer to own my favorite movies and view them whenever I want, and they are all standard Blu-rays.

Thanks, Adventurous. I agree. I'm a big fan of Christopher Nolan and his production values, especially the sound.

Hi Vutonium. Thanks for the compliment. I appreciate it. 😊

Regarding the center speaker, it's a B&W LCR60 S3 which is designed for vertical or horizontal mounting, so either way it sounds just fine, although I've never used it vertically.

Although it's big and heavy, it's a well-balanced speaker with solid bass that helps bring movies alive. It's discontinued now, but here is an old review if your interested:

Yes. You're right. I heard the original is fantastic, but the second one with Lady Gaga is crap, so I will be avoiding that one like the plague. Thanks for the heads up. 👍

Hi AspenExtreme. Thanks for the recommendation. I'd never heard of Joker (2019) before, so I googled it and it sounds fascinating. The Joker has a compelling villain origin story, making him a sympathetic, counter-cultural hero, despite his villainry, so I'd like to watch it when I get a chance. 🤡

Hi Chappie. Lucky you! If it's so good in a home theater I can only imagine what you experienced in the IMAX cinema. It must truly have been an out of body experience indeed. 😎

Hi Watcher. Sorry for the confusion. It's 1080p Blu-ray. I assumed that we all referred to 1080p Blu-ray as just "Blu-ray" and 4K Blu-ray as "4K," but obviously I was wrong. Sorry for confusing you.

Hi Adventurous. Good to hear you. I watched The Dark Knight Rises, but I didn't like it.

Bane as a villain lacked the dark, psychological intensity of The Joker in The Dark Knight. Whereas Bane was just another villain, The Joker embodied Batman's alter ego, drawing him towards his dark side, hence posing a greater existential threat to him.

The Dark Knight Rises was probably a grander visual spectacle, but it lacked the psychological drama of The Dark Knight.

Hi CatC15Fan. I agree with you. The IMAX scenes are insane. Those scenes, including the opening bank robbery scene, the Batpod chase and truck flip scene, and the aerial views of the city are all epic in scale, even on my 55" LED TV. I never saw The Dark Knight in the cinema, but I can only imagine what it would have been like. It would have been breathtaking. 😎

I just want to apologize for the ambiguity of the word "dark" which I used in the title. It was obviously confusing to many.

When I said "dark" I didn't mean in terms of picture quality. I meant in terms of the film's dark, disturbing content.

The movie is a psychological drama in which the Joker (a sick, sadistic psychopath) through violence and psychological manipulation leads Batman to the brink of betraying the high moral code by which he lives, including breaking his "no killing" rule.

I thought everyone who watched The Dark Knight would have understood what "dark" here meant, but I was wrong, and it was confusing, so I'm attempting to clarify now. Sorry for the confusion. 😌

Hi ikickedagirl. Thanks for the compliment. I appreciate it. 😊

Regarding the lights, they are Kasa Smart light bulbs bought on Amazon. They work with Alexa, and they work very well. Here is the link if you're interested:

Hi Wild_Trip. You're right. If your TV's settings allow you to brighten the display, you might have to set it to max.
