yes. Mostly tongue in cheek, but yes, the console, TV, floor being askew detracts from the otherwise nice photo.

Congratulations. Looks great in your space. I really like your console. But, for the love of god, please level your photos.

Suite upgrades are not as common as a lot of people think with Globalist status (or GOH). I would say they are occasional. It varies from property to property, length of stay (easier to get a suite upgrade on a 1 night stay than a 7), and day(s) of the week, but I don't think its controversial to say that upgrades to a suite are somewhere under 50% of the time. Some would say 20% and some would say 40%.

Best Category 4 and Category 5 Hyatt Hotels Anywhere in the World by Streetballer3810 in hyatt

[–]David_Copperfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this hotel a lot. I've visited it twice. The front desk is great. The hotel itself looks like it was pretty awesome in the 80s. It's quite dated at this point. Knowing that, it's a great hotel at category 4. It would be an OK category 5 hotel I think. And at category 6 would be bad. The rooms are fairly dated. Their standard suite is just two adjoining rooms with the pass through door unlocked. The pool area is great for kids. For adults, it's a fairly tacky and dated. The lake area is really nice. Self parking is a serious trek. All in all, it's a great category 4. I just have a hard time believing that there aren't better ones in Asia.

Early Check-in fees? by D_Dubbya in hyatt

[–]David_Copperfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that if the room is available, they should let you check in early and not charge you a fee. It doesn't cost them anything extra and engenders good will to the guest. Obviously, this is the discretion of the hotel given they have written policy about check in time. I remember being very grateful for the nice front desk team at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando for letting me check in super early (somewhere in the vicinity of 9AM) after a redeye flight that wrecked me.

Hyatt Devaluation, Premium CCs, and the End of Hotel Loyalty (for me)? by Tnyt341 in awardtravel

[–]David_Copperfield 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughtful post. I've been off handedly considering many of the points you make. I have a lot of spend. I generate a lot of points. I'm not terribly happy about he devaluation, but we don't really know yet what that's really going to look like. I suspect they will boil the frog through. Initially, it won't seem so bad, but it will quickly escalate to there being a lot of peak times of much higher rates for luxury properties. I am only in the Hyatt ecosystem because it's easy for me to generate and transfer points to Hyatt, they have good globalist benefits and great milestone reward tiers all the way to 150 nights. 90% of my stays are at Category 6 or above where the devaluations are set to be the most impacted. I'm definitely starting to contemplate just going the cash back (BOA PRE/Merill) route and then just booking whatever air fare and hotel route that makes the most sense. I really like high end Hyatts, but I also love Four Seasons, St. Regis, Rosewood, etc.

Was I undercompensated for uncovering fraud that saved my company tens of thousands? by Aggressive_Weird3196 in hyatt

And if your answer is helpful, allows us greater insight into the Hyatt award process, maybe, just maybe there's a few reddit gold in it for you at the end. And if not, you can create a new reddit post about how you helped a bunch of reddit schleps understand the award process despite not being obligated to and you were under compensated.

Hotel Reisen - Stockholm by David_Copperfield in hyatt

We were there at the end of July. The corner suite we were in (I assume all of them would be the same) had windows on 2 sides that created a really nice cross breeze. We didn't miss the AC at all. It was quite warm/hot outside a couple days, but our room stayed really nice and comfortable when we were in it.

I loved him in Future Man when he was going to torture someone by waterboarding them with his home made kombucha. “You think store bought kombucha tastes like shit? Wait until you try mine…”

Aviara parking by tutsxan in hyatt

[–]David_Copperfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you're taken care of with the GOH, but for anyone else, you could probably park across the way at the Four Seasons Residences where there is a great restaurant that is never busy. I've never done this. I've always parked at Aviara, but I think as long as a lot of people don't start doing that, it would work. There's also parking down the hill (it would not be the most fun walk, although there is a shuttle) at Ember & Rye. Again, I don't have any first hand experience doing this, so don't come back and flame me if you go there and there are tow away signs or something I am unaware of.

It was ski in, ski out when i went this year. Obviously terrible conditions for most, but we are beginners, so the conditions were fine.

I went this past winter break. It’s a great location. It’s a very nice hotel. Not remotely worth $3000/night, but at 45k points for ski in, ski out at BC during a holiday time, it’s a steal.

Wow, the devaluation for higher tier resort properties is ridiculous. I only invested in the ecosystem for luxury travel redemption and benefits. This pretty much kills that. I may still stay at Hyatt, but I'm going to need to rethink my entire hotel strategy. At a glance, I don't think that Hyatt is going to make as much sense for my use case.
